Honeygain Review – Great Way to Earn Passively? (Not For Everyone)

Honeygain Rating

Honeygain pays you for sharing your unused internet. It can take a bit of patience, but what makes it attractive is that it offers a completely passive way to earn. And you will get a $2 bonus if you join through the link below.

If you have been looking for ways to earn some extra money online passively, you have maybe come across Honeygain.

But is Honyegain legit and really a way to earn without much effort, or is it a scam to stay away from?

This is definitely important to know before joining, as there, unfortunately, are many scams out there you need to be aware of.

I have tested and used Honeygain for quite a while now myself, and in this Honeygain review, you will get an inside look and learn about all the pros and cons.

That way, you will know exactly what to expect and can easily decide if this is the right opportunity for you or not.

What is Honeygain, and what does it offer?

Honeygain is a unique app where you can earn some extra money for sharing your unused internet. Yes, you read that right. It's that simple.

You don't actually have to do anything other than install their program on your device.

And let me just reveal right away that Honeygain is legit – I have been paid by it many times myself, and I will also show you my payment proof later.

Now, in order to fully understand how well you can earn from Honeygain, and if it is the right option for you or not, we have to examine the earning opportunities it offers in detail.

I have made a short video that describes exactly how Honeygain works and how you can earn from it. In it, you can also see payment proof. You can also read all the details below the video:

Option 1 – Software/App Installation

As mentioned, earning from Honeygain is pretty simple and effortless. All you have to do is install their app/program on your device.

The program can be used on many different devices, whether you want to use it on your computer or from your phone.

honeygain devices
You can install Honeygain on many different devices.

This is one of the aspects Honeygain has improved since I first started using it, where it was only available on limited devices. But now you can use it both for Android, iOS, Linux, Mac, and Windows, so you can basically use it no matter the devices you have.

The program/app will basically make use of your unused bandwidth and share it with their clients for web intelligence and content delivery.

In return, you will receive compensation. The unique thing about Honeygain is that you can install it on several different devices. Installing it on several devices is actually recommended to maximize your earnings.

But, of course, not all of us have several devices, so it is not realistic for all to maximize our earnings like this. But you can also just use it on one or two devices and will then just earn less (more about the earning potential later).

Also, be aware that you can only have 1 device connected to the same network/IP address. This used to be 2 devices but has recently changed.

So if you are planning to use more than 1 device, make sure to use different connections/networks. And you can connect a maximum of 10 devices in total.

Now, if you are worried about the safety of Honeygain and whether the software is intrusive or is collecting sensitive information, they guarantee that their software won't do that.

The only information they will be getting from you will be your email address, payment information, device information (like your IP address, operating system version, device model, etc.), and network information.

Apart from that, the only other thing their software will use on your end is a small amount of your bandwidth and device resources.

So, you don't really have to worry about leaking sensitive information like social security and credit card numbers or any other personal information, for that matter.

Option 2 – Honeygain Content Delivery

The Honeygain Content Delivery is an extra way to earn – and just like the regular way of earning with Honeygain, this feature does not require any effort.

It is a way for you to share your internet connection for bandwidth-intensive content such as images, videos, audio, heavy websites, IPTV, VoIP, etc.

It requires a stable network connection and can only be used on Windows and macOS devices.

You can have to enable this feature separately. You just open the Honeygain settings and click to enable the content delivery, as you can see in the image below.

Honeygain Content Delivery Enabled
You can enable the Content Delivery to earn extra.

Once it has been enabled, you will earn 6 credits per hour you are connected.

Just be aware that there are limited spots for this feature so there is no guarantee you will be able to earn right away.

Once you have enabled it, you will see if you are in a queue or if you are earning. So it can take some patience before you get to earn with the content delivery as many people are interested in using it.

Also, at the moment of updating this review, this feature is not yet available in all countries. Currently, it is only available in around 30 countries.

So if you do not see the option as you can see in the image above, it is because it is not yet available in your country. But then keep an eye on it as they are planning to expand the feature to more countries.

But until then, you can then just earn by sharing your internet bandwidth the regular way, but that can definitely also be great.

Option 3 – Referral Program

You can add to your earnings from installing the app by inviting people to join Honeygain as well. Their referral program is actually quite simple.

honeygain referral program
To earn more from Honeygain, you can invite other people to join the platform.

When you invite people to join and they register successfully and install the software, you will earn 10% of their daily earnings. And just to make it clear – they will earn the same and your commission will NOT be taken from their earnings but be paid by Honeygain.

I know it's not a lot, but if you've got plenty of referrals, it can result in a significant amount.

To invite people to join, simply copy your invite link and share it via Twitter or Facebook. You can also just email your invite link.

Option 4 – Honeygain achievements

Honeygain achievements is the newest feature they have introduced to motivate you to stay active, and at the same time, you can earn a bit extra.

You can earn badges when you are using the platform actively. They are similar to achievements you see in, for example, video games, where you get rewarded for completing specific tasks and objectives.

Some of these will earn you extra credits, and others will just give you a badge.

It will not boost your earnings a lot, but it is a fun extra feature and worth checking out the section once in while.

Option 5 – Honeygain coupon code / joining bonus

Honeygain offers a way for you to kickstart your earnings.

When you join, you can use a Honeygain coupon code and get $2 into your account right away. But to get this bonus, you have to use an invitation link or get a code from someone who is already a member.

I am a member myself, and if you want the joining bonus, you can just sign up through the invitation link on this page.

If you do that, you will get $2 into your account right away, which will give you a great and easy start. The bonus actually used to be $5, but they have lowered it and wanted to mention that here to avoid confusion. But still a great bonus just for signing up.

How do you get paid?

With Honeygain, you used to only be able to choose to get paid in cash or Bitcoin. For cash payments, you have to withdraw via PayPal (via Tipalti).

Honeygain has, however, removed Bitcoin as a payout option. Personally, I think that is a shame, but I actually stopped using it as a payout option anyway because Honeygain charges extremely high fees for that payout option.

Luckily, they have just introduced a new payout option where you can get paid in a different crypto called JumpToken.

I personally think it is great it has these different options, and great you can choose to get paid in cash via PayPal, as it is one of the most convenient payment methods around, in my opinion.

Honeygain Payment Method
Once you have earned $20, you can get paid via PayPal. For JMPT there is no threshold.

As shown in the photo above, you can request payment once you've earned $20.

However, the new payout option where you can get paid in JumpToken (JMPT) will give you several benefits. You do not have to reach a certain threshold to take out your earnings, and you will get a 10% bonus on your earnings.

The bonus you get for earning in what they call JumpTask mode used to be 50% when it first launched but has unfortunately been reduced to 10%.

It is possible the JMPT bonus will completely disappear at some point – just so you are aware. However, you are still able to get paid immediately, which is a great benefit.

Therefore, it can seem like an obvious choice to get paid in JMPT. However, it depends on your personal preferences.

Personally, I trust Bitcoin more as it has proven to be a crypto with huge potential over many years, whereas JMPT is brand new, so difficult to say how it will develop. But as mentioned above, Bitcoin is no longer a payout option on Honeygain.

However, it is very easy to just convert your JMPT to any other crypto, so if you prefer other cryptos, that can be a way to do it, and this is what I am often doing myself.

One thing you also need to be aware of is that the fees for withdrawing via PayPal are 15%, and there is no fee for withdrawing in JMPT.

It is clear that Honeygain is trying to push its members to get paid in JMPT, but personally, I think the fees for getting paid via PayPal are crazy high, and I am very disappointed they have made the fees this high.

But that is something you just have to accept if you want to use it to earn. And because of these fees, it might also be worth keeping an eye on the JMPT token and considering using this as you will then not only earn more but also not pay withdrawal fees.

The low fee and the bonus when earning in JMPT is the reason I have started using this payout method myself. And then I often just convert it into other cryptos after having withdrawn it to my Metamask wallet.

What you need to know about their payment system is that it deals with Megabytes. The way you get paid on this site is by counting the megabytes you've shared using the program.

For every MB you provide using their software, you will earn a certain number of credits. To give you perspective, you earn 1 credit for 10MB of bandwidth you share. So for 10GB, you’ll earn 1 USD. That is their conversion rate.

Their fairly high payout threshold for BTC and PayPal, in my opinion, is their most significant drawback.

But then again, you don't really have to do anything in order to earn. So, I can say that the high payout threshold is balanced out by the effortless way of earning.

However, it can take some patience to reach the payout threshold, so do not join if you want to get your earnings out fast.

If you are looking for sites that will allow you to withdraw your earnings significantly faster, I suggest you check out the fastest paying sites instead.

Once you have requested a payout, it can take up to 7 business days for you to receive your earnings. This is quite slow and the biggest disadvantage of Honeygain, in my opinion. It used to be faster, but for some reason, they have made it slower I have asked their support, and they are not planning to make it faster again.

I assume this is another way for them to push its users to get paid in JumpToken as you can get paid immediately if you choose that option.

However, it is not a big deal to wait 7 days, but it is just something to be aware of so you do not panic if you do not receive the earnings right away.

I have also made a video where I cash out so you can see exactly how it works and see Honeygain payment proof.

How much money can you make?

The way their platform works is that the more devices you use, the more money you can earn. So, that goes without saying that to make a significant amount of money, you will need to install the software on multiple devices.

So, the earning potential of Honeygain will basically depend on how many devices you can install it on. In order to maximize your earnings, you also need to make sure you have no more than 1 device connected to the same network/IP address.

You can maximum use 10 devices to earn on Honeygain, but you should connect them to 10 different Networks/Ip addresses. It used to be possible to connect 2 devices per IP, but this has, unfortunately, changed and is just something you need to be aware of.

You can also just use 1 or 2 devices and still earn some nice extra cash on the side. And remember that a mobile network also has its own network/IP, so this can be an easy way to be able to use 2 devices if you have both a computer and a phone with its own internet plan.

According to their own calculator on the website, if you share 10 GB of data per day, you stand to earn around $30 per month – and 10 GB per day is a lot of data you would have to share.

Before calculating if it will even be worth it, you, of course, also need to calculate the cost you have for your internet connection.

If you have unlimited internet, it might be worth it, but if you pay as you go for your internet, it might end up costing you more than you earn, depending on your internet plan.

But if you have unlimited internet, it can be an easy way to earn as you do not have to do anything.

So it can be a way to earn a bit extra passively, and that is without a doubt the strength of the platform, but you need to do it with the right expectations and first calculate if it will even be worth it for you.

I suggest you install it on the devices you have and then test it for a month and see how much you earn. That is the best way to find out exactly how much you can earn with the speed of your connection and your devices.

Can you use it on mobile?

As mentioned earlier, Honeygain is available for both computers and mobile devices.

On mobile, it used to only be available for Android devices, but now they have also made it available for iOS devices.

honeygain app
You will have to manually install the app by downloading the APK.

Another thing you need to take note of is that you won't be able to download the app from the regular Android app store Google Play. You will have to download its APK version from inside Honeygain after you log in.

If this is your first time hearing about APKs, it's basically a manual installation method of installing an app on a mobile device. The good thing is that when you click the download link for the Android installation, you will be provided step-by-step instructions.

All you have to do is follow the instructions, and you should be able to install the app just fine. Although, I would say that it would have been better if the app was available for download on Google Play. That would be the most ideal option.

One thing about their mobile app you need to be aware of is that it will use up more of your battery.

While traffic sharing is active, the app uses the device battery. Based on the age of your device, the expected consumption may vary from 5%-8% of battery per day.

Who can join Honeygain?

Honeygain is available globally. They don't really care where you are from. As long as you have an internet connection, you are good to go.

honeygain registration
All you need to do to register an account is to fill out the sign-up form.

Their registration process is also very simple. Just sign-up through their registration form and confirm your account by clicking the confirmation button in the email that will be sent to you.

There is not as such an age limit for you to join and use Honeygain. But they do say you have to be of legal age, whatever that is in your country. And if you want to join before that, you need your parent’s or guardian’s permission.

Also, how much you can earn will vary from country to country as the need for traffic is higher in some countries than in others.

If you happen to live in a country where you find it hard to earn from Honeygain, you can check out these Honeygain alternatives instead.

Can you get support?

When you log in to their dashboard, you can access their FAQ page and find the answers you are looking for. It does cover most of the common questions you will encounter, which is a good thing.

honeygain contact form
If you need to get in touch with their support team, you will have to use the contact form provided on their site.

But if you can't find the answers you are looking for, you can use the contact form on their site. Take note, it has to be the one on the site because their app really doesn't have a contact form you can use.

Just send your inquiries through that form. You can also visit their social media pages to get updates on what's the latest. They have Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages which are quite active.

In my experience, the support does answer quite quickly, and I have always received a reply when contacting them, which is definitely great.

Overall, I would say that they do have a pretty decent way of providing support for their members.

Final Verdict

As you can see in this review, Honeygain is a legit platform that will pay you for sharing your bandwidth and device resources. It has a couple of attractive qualities and some disadvantages as well.

But let's finish this review with a summary of its pros and cons so you can get a better overview of what the site offers.

pros

Pros:

  • Offers a passive way of earning extra cash
  • Payment via PayPal and crypto is available
  • Available globally
  • Gives a great joining bonus
  • Available on many devices
cons

Cons:

  • Fairly high payout threshold
  • There are high fees when you cashout via PayPal

The main benefit Honeygain offers is the effortless way you can earn extra cash. That is really, in my opinion, the strength of their platform. You can simply set it and forget it. So, it's really a form of passive income.

However, it can take quite some time to withdraw your earnings since it has a fairly high payout threshold, especially if you only install it on one device. But it can be a decent secondary site to earn from because it really doesn't require any effort.

You can just install it on your computer or mobile device and work on other online rewards sites and still earn. But you should really manage your expectations as you will not be able to earn a lot from it.

So if you prefer a more hands-on way of earning extra cash where you can easily earn a lot more, I recommend you check out the top survey sites in your country instead.

The sites on this list all have good earning potential and a pretty low payout threshold. Plus, you will also be able to find a site you can join regardless of where you live.

  1. I found out that using honeygain with surveysites is risky, as it can get one’s IP address blacklisted as using VPN, and therefore getting my account banned.
I decided against joining because of this.

Just wanted to ask its true, and if you’ve experienced it.

    Reply
    • I have not experienced it but in general, it is a good idea to turn it off when using survey sites as they usually have strict security so it does not take much to get banned from some of them.

      • Okay. So turning it off won’t get me banned from other sites??

One more question though….how do I turn it(honeygain) off??

        Reply
        • Unless you have a VPN or anything like that installed, you should be fine then.

You can just turn it off by going to the settings in the app and stop it or log out.
