Are PTC Sites Legit and Worth It? (Ultimate PTC Guide)

Are PTC Sites Worth It header

Earning some extra cash online is great as it gives a lot of flexibility.

Some popular ways to earn some extra money online for free are sites like Get-Paid-To (GPT) and survey sites.

If you haven't heard about these types of sites, they are basically online rewards platforms that will pay you for completing surveys and doing other online micro tasks.

Another such type of online rewards site that is less popular is the Paid-To-Click (PTC) sites.

This is where you can get paid to click ads and videos. Because it sounds so easy, it is something many people are interested in and have asked me about.

So are PTC sites worth it? And exactly how do they work, and why can you get paid just to click?

That is important to know before you start, so you can find out if this really is the right opportunity for you or not.

This article will go over everything a PTC site offers, so you can get a clear picture of what you can expect if you decide to join a PTC site.

What are PTC sites?

Just to avoid any confusion, let's clarify what PTC means. PTC is short for Paid to Click.

This is because the main way to earn on these platforms (more about how to earn below) is just by clicking.

It almost sounds too good to be true, so let's move on and talk about whether this really is a legit way to earn.

Are PTC sites legit?

Well, there definitely are legit PTC sites out there, and there are also scams.

Just like GPT and survey sites, there will always be individuals looking to take advantage of people by putting up scam sites. So, it is important to know how to spot legit sites.

But that's another discussion for another day. This article will focus on how PTC sites are a potential way of earning extra income.

It is important to note that even though a PTC site is legit, it doesn't always follow that you should sign up and become a member. You first have to check if it provides a good earning potential.

money time ratio
When looking at the earning potential of a PTC site, the main factor you need to consider is the money/time ratio.

You see, with online rewards sites like PTC, GPT, and survey sites, you need to consider the amount of time you need to invest because that will be the only resource you have to spend since these sites are FREE TO JOIN. That means there won't be any membership fees.

So, in theory, you will want to join a site that will best make use of your time. In other words, you will want a site that will allow you to earn a decent amount with the least amount of time possible.

You can only do that if a site pays you well. If a site pays well, then you won't have to spend a lot of time to earn a significant amount. That's the theory of the money/time ratio.

Generally, in my experience, PTC sites are not that great in this aspect. This is why it is the least popular site among the three common online rewards sites.

That's why even though a PTC site is legit, it doesn't always mean it is a good idea to join.

You have to make sure that the earning potential it offers is really worth it. Otherwise, you might just end up wasting your time.

You find out about this by looking at the earning methods it offers, which we will do next.

How can you earn on PTC sites?

One thing I can say about PTC sites is they usually offer plenty of earning opportunities.

Of course, there are PTC sites that are a bit more unique or more geared towards a certain niche. But there are some common things you can find across all PTC sites.

So, let's talk about the common ways you can earn from a PTC site.

Viewing Ads

First and foremost, a PTC site won't be a PTC site if it doesn't offer ad viewing as a way for you to earn rewards.

viewing ads on PTC sites
Viewing ads is what makes a PTC different from other types of online rewards sites.

The idea for this type of earning opportunity is pretty simple. You just have to click on an ad offer and view the ad. Normally, you will have to wait several seconds for the ad to load completely.

Then, you will have to answer a captcha to indicate that you are not a bot programmed to auto-click on an ad offer. Once you've completed the captcha, you can stop viewing the ad and proceed to the next offer.

You will then receive the reward promised, which will be credited to your account.

Paid Offers

Paid offers are the bread and butter of GPT sites, but they can also be usually found on PTC sites as well. Typically, paid offers on PTC sites will come from partner sites.

PTC paid offers
You will be able to earn more rewards by completing paid offers.

You will find paid offers on PTC offerwalls. If you aren't familiar with paid offers, they are basically small tasks you can do, and in exchange, you will receive a reward once you complete them.

You will typically be asked to answer a survey, play a game, watch a video, sign up for a website, or answer quizzes. These are the most common paid offers.

Paid Surveys

Paid surveys are what you will typically find on survey sites, but they are also available on PTC sites.

PTC paid surveys
Another way to earn higher rewards on PTC sites is to answer paid surveys.

Just like paid offers, the paid surveys available on PTC sites will usually come from partner survey sites.

When you click on a paid survey offer, you will have to answer several qualifying questions first. The survey sites do this to ensure you are included in the demographic the survey is targeting.

If you qualify, then you can answer the actual survey. Once you complete the survey, you will receive the reward promised.

However, you just need to be aware that very often the surveys pay less on PTC sites than on survey and GPT sites for the exact same surveys.

So you need to choose the surveys you take carefully.

Grid Game

Another common earning opportunity found on PTC sites is the grid game. This game is actually a variant of the view ads earning opportunity.

PTC grid games
Opening grids will give you the chance to win small prizes.

The idea behind this game is that every day, you will be given a certain number of chances to open a grid on an image. The grid will contain an ad you have to view. The same procedure for viewing an ad offer applies.

Once you finish viewing the ad, you will win a random prize.

Usually, the prize you will win will be banner credits which you can use to create your own ad on the PTC site. However, there are also times when you can win a specific amount. And sometimes you do not win at all.

The prizes will really just depend on what the PTC site will offer.

No matter what, it is, however, not a way to earn a lot and can end up taking quite a lot of time if you do not plan your time wisely.

Referral Program

Referral programs are also a common method of earning on PTC sites. The logic is pretty simple. You invite a person to join the PTC site, and in return, you will get a reward.

The reward you will get will usually depend on how much your referral will earn on the PTC site.

PTC referral programs
Inviting people to join a PTC site will allow you to earn bonus rewards.

Referral programs can also be found on GPT and survey sites. However, there is a slight difference with PTC sites.

On PTC sites, you can actually rent referrals and sometimes even buy them.

Seeing as you get a commission from your referral's earnings, there is an argument that renting referrals can boost your own earnings.

The referrals you will be renting are actually the people who registered to the site without anyone referring them. That's how PTC sites are able to monetize their referral programs.

However, if you do not have a solid plan, this can end up costing you a lot of money, and you can end up losing money instead of earning.

But we will go more into the overall earning opportunities below.

How much money can you make on PTC Sites?

The amount of money you can earn on a PTC site will mostly depend on how active you are on the site.

The more ads, offers, and surveys you complete, the more money you will be able to earn.

efficiency
Time is the only resource you will have to spend on PTC sites.

Here is where, in my opinion, PTC sites fail to be an ideal option to earn extra cash.

As explained at the beginning of this article, your main resource will be the time you spend completing the earning opportunities offered on a PTC site.

If a PTC site doesn't pay you well, then naturally, you won't be able to earn a significant amount. To compensate, you will have to spend more time to earn more.

The problem with PTC sites, in my opinion, is that the rewards you will get from viewing ads, completing offers, and surveys will be relatively low.

The amount you will earn from viewing an ad will usually be around $0.0001 to $0.001. Although it doesn't take too much effort and time to do, you will still not be able to earn a decent amount.

You will need to view hundreds of ads just to earn $1, and as you can probably tell, that will take a lot of time to do. So, in effect, you really aren't spending your time wisely.

As for paid offers and surveys, since they will come from other sites, you can't expect to earn a lot from them because it will usually be less than what you will earn if you take the survey or offer directly from the site that hosted it.

paid surveys on PTC sites
PTC sites will keep a percentage of the reward you will receive.

Let me explain. In the photo above, you will be able to earn $7 for completing a survey on Opinion Plus.

Now, if that same survey is also hosted on a PTC site, then you can't expect to earn the same amount because the PTC site will take a percentage of the actual reward and keep it as a sort of referral fee.

That is how PTC sites make money. They host other sites' surveys and offers, and in return, they get to keep a percentage of the reward.

So, in reality, the money you will earn from PTC sites will always be less than the money you will earn from GPT and survey sites that host their own offers.

This is the main reason why PTC sites aren't that popular. They simply have low earning potential.

On the other hand, the good thing is that you can always find a way to earn on PTC sites as they will always have available options – it just takes quite a lot more patience to earn.

How will you get paid?

Most of the PTC sites offer gift cards as their main rewards. However, there are also ways for you to earn cash instead. Just don't expect to find PayPal as an option to withdraw your earnings.

This is because PayPal doesn't really like to work with PTC sites. They see PTC sites as a risky business. So they banned it. It has to do with non-compliance with their policies and terms of service.

They do offer other ways for you to receive cash. Payza, PerfectMoney, and Skrill are the common payment methods available on PTC sites.

One good thing I can say about PTC sites is they do typically have a low payout threshold.

Normally, you can withdraw an amount as low as $1. This isn't really surprising, in my opinion, seeing as you can't really expect to earn a lot from these sites.

The logic to this is that if a PTC's payout threshold is any higher, there is a risk that members will lose interest because they won't be able to withdraw their earnings quickly.

That is why, in my opinion, they have a lower payout threshold compared to GPT and survey sites, even though you definitely also can find survey and GPT sites where the threshold is this low.

Does it cost anything to join PTC sites?

A PTC site is a free membership site. So, it won't cost anything to become a member. However, PTC sites offer a form of “spend more to earn more” opportunity that you can avail of.

PTC membership upgrade
You can boost your earnings by upgrading your membership on most PTC sites.

Most, if not all, PTC sites, will allow you to upgrade your membership, and in return, you will receive several benefits. The benefits will range from higher rewards for viewing ads, higher commission for referral earnings, etc.

The benefits will vary depending on the PTC site, but one thing remains constant. The upgrade will cost a significant amount.

I'm not discounting that you can earn from this upgrade. But you do have to carefully plan out your strategy on how to earn back the money you spent on the upgrade.

I'm not a fan of this type of opportunity because, in my opinion, it totally defeats the purpose of joining an online rewards site.

You are supposed to join a site like this to earn money and not spend your own. In my opinion, there are just better ways to earn extra cash.

In addition to this, the earning and upgrade systems on PTC sites are often overly complicated, so if you are inexperienced, it will likely seem like a really good investment at first.

But when you look deeper into what it takes to even just make the money back, most beginners will not be able to do this.

So if you are not careful and have a lot of experience and a very good plan, you can very well end up losing money instead of earning.

Who can join PTC sites?

PTC sites aren't totally all negative. They do have some redeeming qualities. One such quality is that they are usually available globally.

That means you will be able to register as a member regardless of where you live. This makes it an easier choice if you live in a region there aren't a lot of GPT and survey sites you can join.

And as mentioned earlier, you will more or less always be able to find ways to earn.

Are PTC sites worth it?

So, the million-dollar question now is, are PTC sites worth it?

Here's a summary of its pros and cons to give you an overview of what you can expect from a PTC site before making your final decision.

pros

Pros:

  • Offers several earning opportunities
  • Available globally
  • Low payout threshold
cons

Cons:

  • Low rewards
  • Payment via PayPal usually not available
  • You can end up losing money if you are inexperienced
  • Usually a lot of pop-ups that can be disturbing

As you can see, the main drawback of PTC sites is that they aren't really very good in terms of earning potential. You will need to invest quite a lot of time just to earn a significant amount.

The earning opportunities offered by PTC sites don't pay well, and if you want to earn a significant amount, you will have to avail of their membership upgrades to boost your earnings.

And if you are new to this type of site, it can be quite confusing and counter-productive.

And if you do decide to avail of their upgrades, you will have to build a solid plan to earn back the money you spent on the upgrades. To put it simply, it's just too much work to earn a few bucks.

Are there better alternatives?

In my opinion, you are better off joining a survey or GPT that pays well because then, you won't have to spend a lot of time or invest your own money to earn a significant amount.

That's why I recommend you check out the top survey sites in your country and check out the top GPT sites instead.

You will find plenty of sites that will allow you to earn a decent amount on a regular basis, without having to invest a lot of your time.

And best of all, you will find a site that you can register to regardless of where you live and most of them have more flexible payout methods than PTC sites and are a lot more user-friendly because they do not have all the constant pop-up ads you usually get on PTC sites.

If you have any comments, questions, or have any experiences with PTC sites yourself, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.
