Express Writers Review: Worth It? (Not for Everyone)

Express Writers Rating

Express Writers isn’t for everyone. If you have excellent writing/editing skills, then I suggest you give it a shot and apply because they do offer competitive rates.

Are you a writer or editor looking for extra income? If so, there’s a site called Express Writers that claims you can earn money by working as a writer or editor for them.

Now, the big question is, is it legit? And if it is, is it even worth it?

In this Express Writers review, I will address these concerns and show the full details of what it offers so you will know exactly what to expect.

Then, you can properly evaluate whether this is the right opportunity for you. So, let’s dive in.

What is Express Writers, and what does it offer?

Express Writers is a website that offers an all-in-one content writing service to its clients. And yes, it is legit because you can really earn money by working as one of their writers or editors.

But is it the right fit for you, though? Well, the best way to find out if you should go for it is to take a look at the earning opportunity it offers so you will know if it is a good fit for you or not.  By doing so, you’ll have a clear idea of how much time you must invest in it and how well you can earn from it.

So, here’s how to earn from Express Writers.

The earning opportunity – Jobs

To earn from Express Writers, you’ll have to work on jobs that will be sent your way. The job you must work on will depend on the position you applied for. If you apply as a writer, you’ll take on writing jobs. If you apply as an editor, you’ll work on editing jobs.

When I tested Express Writers, I applied as a writer, so I’ll mainly talk about the writing jobs you’ll work on.

There are five categories of writing jobs you’ll work on – Medical, Finance, Technology, Legal, and All-Industry. When you apply, you’ll have to choose which field you are interested in because that’s the job category that will be assigned to you if you get accepted.

You’ll only be writing about topics related to the category you’ve chosen. Now, when working as a writer, you’ll start with the basic pay for either a Subject Matter Trained ($20 per 500 words) or a Subject Matter Expert ($40 per 500 words).

To qualify as a Subject Matter Trained writer, you must have at least a few months to two years of experience writing about topics for the category you’ve chosen. For Subject Matter Expert, you’ll need at least five years’ experience in writing with a proven track record and the ability to specialize in an industry.

You can work on writing or editing jobs to earn from Express Writers.

The photo above will give you an idea of the type of writing jobs you will work on. Basic jobs will usually involve writing content for blogs and websites. The advanced jobs will cover white paper pages, case studies, e-books and guides, and authority content.

When working on a job, you’ll be given a deadline, which you must adhere to. Even though you can work anytime you want, you must still follow the deadline because Express Writers’ clients are promised a fast turnaround. So, it is always important to submit your work before the deadline.

If you keep missing the deadline, Express Writers will stop providing you with work. That’s why if you want to keep earning, you must always adhere to the deadline. Now, after submitting your work, the Express Writers’ editorial team will review it, and if there are revisions that must be done, you must do them within the given time.

If your work is approved, you’ll receive the pay for the job you worked on. Later, I will explain how you will get paid. What’s good about Express Writers is that there’s a steady supply of jobs, so you can more or less earn regularly.

How do you get paid?

As explained above, you’ll earn a certain amount per job you work on. The amount you will earn will depend on the number of words you have to write/edit.

Then, Express Writers will pay you every two weeks via PayPal. You don’t have to earn a certain amount to receive your earnings. As long as you’ve earned something within that two-week period, you’ll get paid.

Overall, I would say Express Writers' payment system is relatively straightforward. I like the fact that it offers a convenient payment system like PayPal. If you are interested in more sites that use a convenient payment system, I suggest you also check out the top sites that pay via PayPal.

How much money can you make?

As explained earlier, when starting, you’ll earn a certain amount depending on your designation as a writer or editor ($20/500 words for Trainees or $40/500 for Experts). Now, the amount you can earn will also depend on whether you will work as a part-time writer/editor or a full-time one.

For reference, as a part-time freelancer, you are expected to write at least 1,000 words per day. For a full-time position, you must write at least 4,000 words per day. The pay is well within the market rate for writers and editors, so you stand to earn a decent amount if you get accepted into their platform, in my opinion.

Overall, I would say its earning potential is quite decent. That being said, working for Express Writers requires a certain level of commitment on your end.

Can you use it on mobile?

Due to the nature of the work that needs to be done, you must use a computer to earn from Express Writers. So, to answer the question above, NO, you can’t.

As for the platform you will be using to manage your work, you’ll be given access to it once you get hired by Express Writers. It isn’t accessible to non-writers and editors. You can still access it using your phone, but the only thing you can do is check if there are jobs available. You’ll still have to sit in front of the computer to do the actual work.

Who can join Express Writers?

Express Writers is only for people who live in the US, so if you live somewhere else, then this is not for you.

how to join express writers
You must go through an application process if you want to earn from Express Writers.

The first step to working for Express Writers is to apply as a writer or editor. You must provide your email address to begin the application process (refer to the photo above).

Then, Express Writers will send you an email with the link for the next step. The link will take you to the application form that you must fill out. During this step, you will have to indicate if you want a part-time or full-time position.

You will also have to indicate your pay rate as well as the field you want to work on. Then, you must submit a sample of your writing, which must be at least 200 words long. The sample should follow the formatting and template guidelines provided by Express Writers.

After you’ve submitted your application, you must wait for Express Writers to reach out to you regarding your application. It can take days or weeks to hear back from them. It will all depend on their need for new writers or editors, so you must be patient.

If you get accepted, you’ll have to go through the onboarding process where you will learn everything you need to know about working for Express Writers.

One thing I do have to say is that Express Writers is very particular about who they hire, so you have to possess excellent skills to even be considered.

Can you get support?

There’s not much information on their website about working as a writer or editor. However, once you get hired, you will get all the support you need because their editorial team will provide you with training opportunities to grow your skills.

You’ll also be in direct contact with their editorial team, so you can just ask them anything. This is why I would say they do provide good support to their writers and editors since they provide a convenient way for you to get assistance.

Final Verdict

Express Writers is a legit site that will let you earn by working as a writer or editor. It has a couple of good features, but it also has certain limitations you must consider.

Let me wrap up this review by summarizing its pros and cons so you can get a clear overview of what it offers. Then, you can decide if this is the right opportunity for you or not.

pros

Pros:

  • Offers a convenient payout method
  • No payout threshold
  • Offers competitive rates
cons

Cons:

  • Requires a certain level of commitment and skills to earn
  • The application process is a bit long

In my opinion, Express Writers isn’t for everyone. If you have excellent writing/editing skills, then I suggest you give it a shot and apply because they do offer competitive rates. Just be aware that the application process can be quite long, so if you are looking to earn immediately, this is not for you.

Aside from that, working for Express Writers also requires a certain level of commitment because you are required to always submit high-quality work. If you are not prepared to do that, then this is not the right fit for you.

Now, if you don’t want to rely on a website to find opportunities to earn a full-time income, then I recommend you build your own online writing business instead.
