Looking for sites you can earn extra cash? Then you have maybe heard about Australian Beauty Panel (aka Nielsen Beauty Panel) where you can supposedly earn when you shop beauty products.
But is Australian Beauty Panel legit or in reality a scam? Let me answer this question right away so we can move on to discussing other important aspects of this site.
Yes, it is a legit site that does reward you for participating in the activities they offer. Now, the golden question is, does it offer a good way for you to earn rewards?
This Australian Beauty Panel review will address that question and more. After reading this guide you will know exactly what to expect and you will be able to decide if you should join or not.

What is Australian Beauty Panel and what does it offer?
Nielsen is the company behind Australian Beauty Panel and it is a company known for measuring what people watch, listen to, and buy.
You might have already heard of a site called Nielsen Homescan. Well, the makers of Nielsen Homescan has a brand new site called Australian Personal Care & Beauty Panel – but because it is Nielsen that is behind, it is also sometimes referred to as Nielsen Beauty Panel.
The full name is Australian Personal Care and Beauty Panel but in this review I will mostly just refer to it as Nielsen Beauty Panel or Australian Beauty Panel just because the full name is too long:-)
The panel is particularly interested in the beauty and personal care purchases of females aged 16 and over.
So, if you don’t fall under that category, this site is not for you (I will discuss more on this later).
Now, in order to fully comprehend how well you can earn from this site, we have to examine the earning opportunity it offers. So, here’s how you can earn from Nielsen Beauty Panel.
Option 1 – Barcode Scans
Earning rewards from this site is pretty easy and straightforward. All you really have to do is scan barcodes of beauty and health products you will buy.
As shown in the photo above, every beauty product you buy can earn you points. All you have to do is scan the barcodes of the beauty products using their mobile app (I will discuss more on this later).
You will then be awarded points every week if you were able to scan barcodes during that week.
Sometimes, they will ask you to take a photo of the product you are scanning. So, make sure to take note of that when you use the app.
As you can see, earning rewards from Australian Beauty Panel is quite easy and effortless, in my opinion. You can even do it at home and not necessarily at the store you bought the products from.
The reason you can earn like this is that retailers and manufacturers want to know your opinion.
So when you scan your beauty and health products, you do not only earn but you also have your opinion heard and will this way be able to affect what you see on the shelves in the shops around you.
The shopping data you send to Australian Beauty Panel will be combined anonymously with the info from all the other panel members.
This info will then be used as market research to help manufacturers and retailers improve their products and services.
So if you are into beauty and health products, it can be quite a fun way to have a say and earn at the same time, in my opinion
Option 2 – Bonus Rewards
Australian Beauty Panel also gives out bonus rewards for the first installation of the app.
Aside from that, you will receive bonus rewards during your birthday, after 6 months of being a member and after your 1-year anniversary as a Nielsen Beauty Panel scanner.
How do you get paid?
Every week, you will receive a certain number of points if you have scanned a barcode and submitted it using the app. They do not specify exactly how many points you will receive.
In my experience, with a site like this, usually, you will be rewarded based on how many barcodes you’ve scanned. But as long as you’ve scanned a barcode during the week, you will receive points. That’s really the goal.
You can then use the points you earn and exchange it for E-vouchers. Yes, you won’t be able to earn cash from this app. If you prefer to earn cash instead of vouchers, I recommend you check out the top sites that pay via PayPal instead.
The good thing about their payment process though is, you can set it up so that you automatically redeem a certain voucher once you’ve reached the required number of points.
For example, if you’ve accumulated 200 points, it will trigger an automatic e-voucher (of your choice) valued at $20.
And there are some really good gift card options. So in many cases, these rewards can be as good as cash if you ever use any of the shops they offer gift cards for.
How much money can you make?
As you already know, technically speaking, you won’t be able to earn cash from Nielsen Beauty Panel since all they reward you with are E-vouchers. But these can be considered as cash as well.
It’s a relatively new site, so there isn’t a lot of info yet about exactly how much you can earn. But if it’s just like Nielsen Homescan, then the earning potential will be a lot similar.
In my experience, it takes a bit of time to start redeeming rewards because most of the rewards will require a lot of points.
So, you will need to be a bit patient with this site. Although scanning barcodes can feel like a chore at the start, once you get used to it, it can be a form of passive income since you don’t really have to do anything special aside from scanning the barcodes.
It’s earning potential isn’t really that good, but the good thing about this site, in my opinion, is it can be integrated into your everyday life, which can be very beneficial in the long run.
Can you use it on mobile?
As explained above, Nielsen Beauty Panel is a mobile-only platform. You won’t need to log in to their website to participate. All you have to do is sign up and install the app.
Their app is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. However, it isn’t available for download on both app stores. So, the normal installation process of mobile apps doesn’t apply to Nielsen Beauty Panel.
Instead, when you finish the registration process, you will be emailed a link to download and install the app. So, it is important that you check your email from time to time for the link to the app.
Who can join Nielsen Beauty Panel?
Nielsen Beauty Panel is only available to Australian residents. That is also when you come to the website you can see it is also called “Australian Personal Care and Beauty Panel”.
So, if you live outside of Australia, this site is not for you. And if you are interested in more Australia-based sites, I suggest you also check out the top survey sites in Australia.
And as mentioned at the beginning of this article, this site is only for women aged 16 years old and above.
To sign up as a member, just click the Join button on their homepage. It will then ask you several questions. Once you are done with that, you will have to provide your profile information (refer to photo above).
Their registration process is pretty strict because you won’t get accepted right away.
They will have to review your application and as shown in the photo above, they will then call you if you are chosen. Afterward, you will have to fill out an online questionnaire about your purchase habits.
Once all that is done, you will then be emailed the link for the app. That will be the end of the registration process. Once you’ve installed the app, you are now a full-fledged member of the Nielsen Beauty Panel.
Can you get support?
One thing about Nielsen Beauty Panel is, if you Google it, you won’t really see the homepage for the platform. That’s why I’ve provided a link at the end of this article on how to get to their homepage and sign up.
The problem of their site though is, it really doesn’t have an FAQ page that discusses the basic topics of the site. It also doesn’t have a contact form you can use to send in your inquiries.
If you need to get in touch with their support team, you can either call them on the number 1-800-270864 or email them at email@example.com.
Nielsen Beauty Panel is a legit online rewards site that will reward you for scanning barcodes of beauty products you have bought. It has a couple of nice qualities and some glaring limitations.
Let me end this review by summarizing the pros and cons so you can get a better overview of what it has to offer. That way, you can better decide if it is a good fit for you or not.
- Offers an easy way of earning rewards
- You can set up automatic redemption for rewards
- You will be able to affect what you see on the shelves in stores
- Limited earning opportunities offered
- Only available in Australia
- Cash rewards are not available
In terms of simplicity of earning opportunity, Nielsen Beauty Panel can be a good site to join since all you have to do is scan barcodes of beauty products.
However, since it is limited to a specific niche, you can’t really expect to earn a lot of rewards from this site.
Plus, it is only available in Australia and it only accepts women in their panel. So, it isn’t really a very versatile site, in my opinion.
But if you are into health and beauty products then why not sign up and have your opinion heard and earn a bit extra at the same time since it does not take much extra effort once you get used to how it works.
If you are looking for sites that offer better earning opportunities and higher earning potential, I recommend you check out the top survey sites in your country instead.
The sites on this list all have good earning potential and will allow you to earn even without purchasing any products. Plus, you will be able to find a site you can join regardless of where you live.
