The only way to do so is to examine the earning opportunities it offers so you will have a clear idea of how much time and effort is needed to earn from it.

The earning opportunity – Providing support services
The only way to earn from Chatdesk is to work as a customer support agent and provide support services. As the name suggests, the type of support that will be provided will be via chat, so you won’t have to take in calls like a call center agent.
There are two types of support services provided – the on-demand support and the dedicated support.
Let’s talk about the on-demand support first because it is the more prevalent type of support provided by Chatdesk Experts.

When you get hired as a customer support agent, you’ll be given access to their platform called Teams Voting Platform where you will see the questions from the customers of Chatdesk’s clients. These questions come from emails, and social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Your job as an on-demand support agent is to respond to these questions through the Teams Voting Platform. The good thing about this opportunity is that Chatdesk will help you find the right answers by displaying suggestions for your replies. Of course, you still have to adjust the suggestions according to the situation, but you will always get the gist of the message you must send.
It’s a fairly straightforward process, and you will be trained beforehand, so providing the appropriate replies shouldn’t be a problem. Plus, as an on-demand support agent, you can work anytime you want.
If you get hired as a dedicated support agent, on the other hand, you’ll need to work 8 hours a day providing support to customers of Chatdesk’s clients. The process will still be more or less the same, but the only difference is the amount of time you need to work and the support requests you will receive.
Since you are a dedicated support agent, you’ll only have to provide support to specific Chatdesk clients, which means the requests you’ll receive won’t be that varied. In short, the work will be simpler but longer.
As for the payment, you’ll be paid based on the number of tickets/requests you address. So, the more messages you correctly respond to, the more you will earn. In the next section, I will discuss how you can withdraw your earnings.

How do you get paid?
As explained above, you’ll earn a certain amount when you respond to requests or questions from customers. But how will you be able to withdraw your earnings?
Well, you’ll have to use Stripe to withdraw your earnings once you’ve earned at least $50. The payout system is relatively simple and convenient, but the payout threshold is quite high. So, you’ll have to wait a while to withdraw your earnings.

The amount you can earn from Chatdesk Experts will mostly depend on how much time you are willing to invest in it. As for the rate you will be paid per request you respond to, it will depend on a couple of things. The video below explains how their rate for messages responded to works.
In terms of rates for messages that you’ve responded to, there are two tiers that Chatdesk follows. As the video explains, they classify their clients into Tier 1 and Tier 2 companies. Tier 1 companies are those that won’t require any outside platforms you have to access to provide support.
Tier 2 companies, on the other hand, will require you to access 3rd party ordering platforms when providing support to customers. Tier 1 requests will only pay $0.30 per message you respond to, while Tier 2 requests will pay $0.60 per message.
You’ll earn more from Tier 2 requests, but they usually involve more work because you’ll have to check a few things like order details and status, etc. In my opinion, the rates it offers aren’t that bad, which is why I would consider its earning potential to be decent.
Just remember that you’ll have to invest a significant amount of time to earn enough to withdraw your earnings.
Can you use it on mobile?
Chatdesk Experts doesn’t have a mobile app you can download. Their Teams Voting Platform also doesn’t have a mobile version, so you’ll need to sit in front of a computer to earn from it. They also explain on their website that you’ll need a computer and a stable internet connection if you want to earn from them.
So, to answer the question above, NO, you can’t.
Who can join Chatdesk Experts?
Chatdesk usually only accepts applications from US residents. However, from time to time, they recruit experts from other English-speaking countries, like the United Kingdom and Australia, to accommodate around-the-clock support needs.
Just bear in mind that they are not always accepting applications. So, don’t be surprised if this happens when you apply. You’ll just have to check back next time to see if they are accepting new expert applications.
When applying as an expert, you’ll have to fill out the application form. Then, the second half of the application contains evaluation questions that will be scored, and to answer these questions, you’ll have to watch their onboarding videos.
If you pass this phase, Chatdesk will schedule a video conference. This is the final step to becoming a Chatdesk Expert. Think of this as a job interview that you have to nail to get hired. If you get accepted as an Expert, you’ll undergo basic training, and once you are done, you can start responding to requests.
The application process is quite long and you need to pass the test to even continue. So, make sure you have enough time if you decide to apply.
Can you get support?
It would be a bit ironic if a company that provides customer support services to its clients doesn’t also offer support to its own experts. So, to answer the question above, YES, it does. It has a FAQ section you can check out if you have questions.
Plus, their platform will let you correspond with a representative directly, so if you encounter any issues while working, they can be resolved immediately. This is why I would say they do provide good support to their members, which is to be expected, in my opinion.
