Do you frequently shop or dine out? If so, there’s a site called GigSpot that claims you can shop or eat and earn at the same time.
It’s a very interesting claim, but the question is, is it legit or a scam?
I’ve decided to test GigSpot to see what it really offers. In this GigSpot review, you will get a full overview of all the features as well as the payment system it uses so you will know exactly what to expect.
I’ll also include my recommendation at the end of this review to help you decide whether GigSpot is really worth joining or not. So, let’s not waste any more time and get on with this review.
What is GigSpot and what does it offer?
GigSpot is a gig-economy site that will connect you with mystery shopping and market research companies, so it’s not the one that will provide opportunities for you to earn. But, it is indeed a legit platform because you will get paid for taking on the jobs offered on this platform.
Now, the question is, is it worth your time?
To answer this question, you must first understand how GigSpot works, and to do that, we have to examine the earning opportunity it offers. So, here’s how to earn from GigSpot.
The earning opportunity – Jobs
The only way to earn from GigSpot is to take on the jobs offered on the platform.
When you become a member of GigSpot, you will be able to access all the available jobs when you log in to the site or their mobile app (I will talk about the app later).
Once you are logged in, you will see something similar to the photo above. The jobs listed will be grouped according to type. There will be jobs that can be done online or over the phone and there will be jobs that will require you to go to a physical store.
Some jobs will also require you to make a purchase. If you notice in the photo above, you will immediately see the potential reward you will get for completing a job. This is a great tool to help you evaluate which jobs you should prioritize.
You will also see the distance of the location you will need to go to if the job requires you to go to a physical store. As you can see, you will be able to easily prioritize which jobs to go for right from the start. But how can you start working on the job?
When you see a job you are interested in, just click it and you will see the full details. You will also see a “View Agreement” button. If you decide to take on a job, you have to click the “View Agreement” button.
Then, I suggest you read the agreement/contract. To accept the job, you have to sign the agreement/contract. Once you have done that, you are now assigned to the job. All that’s left is to do what the job is asking you to do.
When you complete the job and the employer is satisfied with your work, you will receive the compensation promised. Later, I will discuss how you will get paid, but if you want to know how a company pays, just click the logo of the company on the details page of the job. You will see all the details about the company including the mode of payment they use.
As for the actual jobs you need to do, it will vary from time to time. Usually, there will be jobs that will ask you to purchase something from a certain store and then you evaluate the service provided.
I would say that the jobs being offered will be very diverse and not the usual jobs you will encounter on online rewards sites or gig job sites.

How do you get paid?
Every time you complete a job, you will earn a certain amount. But how will you receive the payment exactly? Well, as mentioned above, the employer who posted the job will be the one to pay you and not GigSpot.
Typically, employers will use PayPal as the mode of payment. If the job requires you to submit a report, you will receive the payment once your report has been reviewed by the employer and approved. It can take up to a couple of days for the payment to be processed.
Some companies offer other payment methods like direct bank transfer or even via check, which will be sent to you through postal mail. But the most common method is by far PayPal.
You also don’t need to reach a payout threshold to receive your earnings. You will always get paid once you complete a job (provided your work was accepted by the employer of course). If a job requires you to make a purchase, you will be reimbursed for it. You just have to show your proof of purchase (the receipt).
Overall, I would say the payment system of GigSpot is relatively straightforward and I like that most employers use a convenient payment method like PayPal. How much money can you make?
Most of the jobs being offered will pay you around $10 to $80 with online and over-the-phone jobs paying the least. The jobs that will require you to go to a certain location will pay more and, in my opinion, are the more profitable jobs.
There is always a decent number of jobs available at any given time, but whether or not you can take on these jobs will entirely depend on your location and preference. Some jobs offered are too far away and then it will be quite costly to travel there and do the job, so it isn’t really worth it.
As for online and over-the-phone jobs, if you don’t have the skills to do them, then they are pretty much useless for you. That is why even though most jobs pay well, the earning potential of GigSpot is not that good because it can be quite hard to find jobs you can actually do.
What I would recommend is you sign up and take a look around and see if there are actually jobs you can do. If you only see a couple, I would not recommend you push through with this platform.
Can you use it on mobile?
As mentioned earlier, GigSpot does have a mobile app you can download. The app will work with both Android and iOS devices, so there won’t be any compatibility issues.
The app is relatively easy to use. Whatever features are available on the web-based platform are also available inside the app, so you can pretty much just use your mobile device to hunt for jobs.
This can be useful if you are already out and you have a lot of free time. You can just open the app and see if there are any jobs available in the area. That would be the best use of the app, in my opinion.
Who can join GigSpot?
GigSpot is only available in certain countries (refer to the photo below).
So, if you don’t live in the US, Canada, Mexico, or Australia, you won’t find any opportunities to earn. To register as a member of GigSpot, you have to be at least 16 years of age.
If you are eligible, then all you have to do is provide your email address during sign-up. Then, you just have to fill out the profile form and provide your password. Once you’ve submitted the registration form, GigSpot will send a confirmation email. Just click the confirmation link in the email to complete the registration.
You can also go through the same process if you use the app. Just download and install the app and fill out the registration form when you first open the app.
Can you get support?
If you have any questions about your account or the platform in general, then, you will have to get in touch with their support team because the website and even the app don’t have a support page you can check out.
If your inquiry is regarding the job you are working on, GigSpot will be of no help. You have to get in touch with the employer for that. The contact details will be on the details page of the job.
But if you want to talk to GigSpot’s support team, you will have to email them at info@gigspot.com.
Overall, even though they don’t have a support page you can check out, I would still say they have a decent support system in place because you can still ask for assistance conveniently.
But I do wish they would also just provide a FAQ section for those simple or common questions. It would make the overall user experience a lot better, in my opinion.
Final Verdict
GigSpot is a legit gig economy platform where you can find jobs to earn extra cash. It has a couple of good features, but it also has some limitations you need to consider.

The main reason why I say this is that even though the jobs pay relatively well, it’s quite hard to find jobs you can work on because most jobs will require specific skills. That will result in lower earnings, in my opinion.
Sure, there will be jobs where you just have to be a mystery shopper, but they are few and far between. More often than not, you will be asked to do odd jobs that you don’t usually encounter on gig economy platforms. But if you like taking on various jobs, this can be a decent option.
Now, if you are just looking for a simpler way to earn extra cash, I recommend you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead. The sites on this list all have good earning potential and earning will be relatively simple. Plus, you will definitely find a site you can join regardless of where you live.
