11 Best Gig Jobs – Where to Find Them (Legit Ways to Earn)

best gig jobs header

One great way to earn extra cash is to do gig jobs, as you can decide for yourself when you want to work.

Plus, you can usually earn a decent amount from working on gig jobs if you choose the right platforms.

The question is, where can you find the best gig jobs? And which platforms are actually worth it?

I have tested a lot of sites and apps that offer this kind of earning opportunity, and below, I will list the best sites and apps to find gig jobs.

I will include a brief description of what each site/app offers so you can easily identify which ones are a good fit for you. All the sites/apps I will include on this list are legit, so you can be sure you will really get paid if you complete the jobs correctly.

What are gig jobs, and where can you usually find them?

Gig jobs or gig economy jobs are really just jobs that last for a specific period. Usually, this period will only last a day or two. When you get hired for a gig job, you will essentially become an independent contractor working for a specific company or establishment.

After you’ve completed the job, you will receive the compensation you were promised in the offer you accepted. This will only happen, though, once your employer approves the completion of the job.

You will find these jobs on gig economy sites or even apps. Gig economy sites or apps exist to offer their members gig jobs they can apply for easily.

When you become a member of a gig economy site or app, all you have to do is log in to their member dashboard, and you will immediately see all the available gig jobs in your area you can apply for. Just choose which ones you are interested in and claim them or apply for them.

If you get accepted, all you have to do is show up at the designated location and do the work required. And as mentioned above, you will receive the compensation promised when you complete the job. That’s how gig jobs work.

How much money can you make from these gig jobs?

Before we talk about the sites and apps you can join to find gig jobs, we have to first talk about their earning potential. First and foremost, it is important to note that gig jobs aren’t a replacement for a full-time job.

So, it’s not something you can earn a living from. Instead, it’s just a way to earn extra income and a good way to spend your extra time if you want to earn some extra money.

That being said, you can still earn a decent amount from completing gig jobs. Typically, you can earn around $10 to $50 for a gig job that will involve manual labor. That’s a decent amount, in my opinion. But you have to be prepared to spend a bit of time and effort when working on gig jobs.

Another thing you need to keep in mind is that the availability of gig jobs will mostly depend on where you live. Based on my experience, there are plenty of gig jobs available in major cities and only a few (if any) in small cities. So, this kind of earning opportunity will only truly be beneficial if you live in a big city.

Otherwise, you are better off joining Get-Paid-To (GPT) or survey sites if you are looking to earn extra money since these sites aren’t really very particular about which city you live in. These sites mostly just care about the country you live in.

Now, if you want to maximize your earnings from gig jobs, I would recommend you join multiple gig economy sites/apps so you can gain access to plenty of opportunities. You can then just choose which gig jobs pay better and apply for them.

11 Best Gig Economy Sites and Apps

Now that we’ve discussed the earning potential of these sites and apps, we can talk about the sites and apps you can join. Take note that these are not the only sites and apps that offer gig jobs. Instead, these are the sites that I have tested and found worthy of your time.

So, all the information I will be providing will be based on my experience with these apps and sites. I will keep updating this list if I find more sites and apps that are really worth it. So, make sure to bookmark this page and check on it from time to time to see if there are new opportunities.

#1 – Shiftsmart

Shiftsmart is a gig economy app that offers gig jobs to its members. To join this platform, you can sign up from their website. It is only available in the US and only in certain cities. If the state or city you live in is not available on the sign-up form, then you are not eligible to join.

shiftsmart

When you become a member of Shiftsmart, you can apply for jobs available in your area. The gig jobs that are typically offered are package delivery jobs, retail auditor jobs, and survey calling jobs. Shiftsmart offers two payment methods: Stripe and direct bank transfer.

And the good thing is that you don’t need to reach a threshold to withdraw your earnings. So, you can always just withdraw any amount you’ve earned. Their app works with both Android and iOS devices as well.

#2 – GigSpot

GigSpot has both a website and a gig job app where you can find work.

You can find quite a lot of small tasks here, and you can join from the US, Canada, Australia, and Mexico.

Usually, you will earn somewhere between $10-$8+ per job, but that, of course, depends on the specific job.

The payment method will also depend on the job, but the most common way to get paid is via PayPal.

#3 – PetBacker

PetBacker is available in more or less all countries, and you can earn by being a pet sitter.

petbacker homepage

How many jobs you can find depends a lot on the city you live in, but in some cities, it can be a great way to earn extra money.

There is no payout threshold, but the payout methods available will vary from country to country. Examples are PayPal and bank transfers.

#4 – TaskRabbit

TaskRabbit is one of the most popular gig economy apps and websites, as it gives you access to a good number of different jobs – mainly handyman kind of work.

taskrabbit homepage

There are most jobs in the US, but you can also join from countries like the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

You just need to be aware that in most countries, you need to have a checking account to get paid.

#5 – Wonolo

Wonolo is another gig economy app where you can earn money by working on gigs. When you become a member of Wonolo, you will be able to take on small gigs to earn money.

wonolo

Most of the gigs found in Wonolo will require manual labor. You will be asked to work in warehouses, drive trucks, and more. So, you will need to exert a lot of effort to complete the gigs. But they do pay a decent amount.

Every gig will have an hourly rate, so the total amount you will receive will depend on how many hours of work you’ve rendered. You get paid via direct bank transfer, and there is no payout threshold. You can just withdraw whatever you’ve earned from completing a gig.

Wonolo is only available in the US. However, it is currently only available in 27 cities. So, before you sign up, you have to check their website to see if your city is included on the list. Their app works with both Android and iOS devices, though, so compatibility won’t be a problem.

#6 – Field Agent

Field Agent is one of the more popular gig economy apps out there. To earn from this app, you just have to work on jobs that will usually ask you to take photos of the products and prices of products in certain stores.

field agent

Some jobs will ask you to compare product prices, while some will ask you to answer short surveys. So, the jobs you need to do won’t really take up a lot of your time.

It pays via direct bank transfer, which is another convenient payment method, in my opinion. However, you need to earn at least $5 before you can transfer your earnings to your bank account. It’s a low threshold, so you shouldn’t experience any problems reaching it.

Field Agent is only available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ecuador, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, and Romania. So, if you don’t live in any of the countries mentioned, then this is not for you. But the app can be downloaded from both Android and iOS app stores, which is a huge plus, in my opinion.

#7 – Gigwalk

Gigwalk is an app that will offer small gigs that will pay you a decent amount. What makes Gigwalk a decent option is that their gigs don’t usually require a lot of effort to complete compared to the other platforms on this list.

gigwalk

Most gigs will usually ask you to take photos of a store or a product it sells. Other gigs will ask you to make a purchase. But you don’t have to worry if this is the case because they will reimburse you for the money you spent to make the purchase (provided you complete the gig).

Gigwalk pays via PayPal, so you can withdraw your earnings conveniently. You also don’t have to reach a threshold to withdraw your earnings. You can just withdraw whatever you’ve earned from a gig.

Gigwalk is available in all countries. However, most of the gigs are for the US and Canada. From time to time, there will be gigs for other countries like India, the UK, Australia, Germany, and France. But you need to be very patient if you don’t live in the US or Canada since there aren’t a lot of gigs available outside those two countries. But the good news is that the app will work with both Android and iOS devices.

#8 – DoorDash

DoorDash is an online food ordering and food delivery platform. You can apply as a dasher to earn extra cash and will earn by delivering food. It is available in the US, Australia, and Canada.

doordash

You need to make sure to deliver on time, but if you can do that, it can be a flexible way to earn some extra money.

The most important detail you need to know about DoorDash is that you get to keep 100% of the tip that will be given to you by your clients. So, if you always provide good service as a dasher, you can earn some nice extra cash that way.

#9 – Bellhop

Bellhop is a company where you can earn extra money by becoming a mover or driver. You can earn up to $21 per hour, depending on the job and your experience.

bellhop homepage

You can only join if you live in the US.

Bellhop has a very convenient payment system, as they process your salary automatically once per week, and you get paid via direct bank transfer.

#10 – Qwick

Qwick is a good option if you have the skills and experience required to work in the hospitality and food service industry.

qwick homepage

You will get paid per hour, but the exact rate will vary from job to job. On average, you should expect to be able to earn $20-$30 per hour, and you will get paid via Stripe.

Just be aware that Qwick only offers gig jobs if you live in the US.

#11 – WorkMarket

WorkMarket is a site where you can find jobs/gigs to earn extra money. However, most of the gigs offered on this site will be related to the healthcare, training, and insurance sectors. So, it’s more of a niche site, in my opinion.

workmarket

The one thing you need to keep in mind with WorkMarket is that before you can apply for a job, you will have to complete a few things first, like your profile, background check, drug test, and more. The background check and the drug test cost a bit of money, too ($20 and $25, respectively).

So, I would only suggest you join this site if you don’t mind spending a bit of money in the beginning. But you can easily earn back the money you spent since most of their jobs pay a good amount.

As for the types of jobs you can do, there’s actually a wide range of jobs available in WorkMarket. But you do have to be skilled to perform these jobs. It almost feels like a site where you can actually get part-time work, in my opinion.

WorkMarket currently offers three payment methods, and it will depend on your location. If you live in the US, you can get paid via direct bank transfer, PayPal, or via the WorkMarket Visa. If you live in Canada or anywhere else, you can only get paid via direct bank transfer or PayPal.

There’s no payout threshold, so you can withdraw your earnings anytime. They don’t specify which countries it is available in, but most of the jobs available are only for people in the US or Canada. So, if you don’t live in any of the countries mentioned, you will have a hard time finding jobs.

They have an app you can download so you can apply for jobs using your mobile device. It works with both Android and iOS devices.

Final Thoughts

So, that does it for the list of sites and apps where you can find the best gig jobs. As I’ve mentioned earlier, I have tested all these sites and apps, and they are all legit. So you will really be able to earn extra money if you join these sites.

And as I’ve recommended earlier, you should join multiple sites/apps so you can gain access to lots of earning opportunities. That way, you can maximize your earnings from gig jobs.

But if you are just looking to do small tasks from the comfort of your own home, I would recommend you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead.

And if you are looking to build a real online business so you eventually can make a living from home, you can check out the exact steps I have used to build a multiple 6-figure online business here.
