How We Test and Rate Earning Platforms

PaidFromSurveys reviews paid survey sites, GPT and rewards platforms, cashback services, user-testing opportunities, and other ways to earn extra money online. When a review says “Personally Tested,” it should also show who did the test and what that person actually did. This page explains how we test platforms, use sources, verify payouts, and rate the options we review.

Our reviews help you judge whether a platform fits your country, profile, available time, and expectations. We cannot promise that you will qualify for the same tasks, receive the same surveys, earn the same amount, or get the same result.

Who tests the platforms

Mikael, the founder and editor of PaidFromSurveys, personally tests the platforms shown in his EarnWithMike videos and some website reviews. A virtual assistant performs many of the initial tests for website articles. Updated reviews explain whether Mikael tested the platform himself or whether someone else on the PaidFromSurveys team did the test. Mikael is listed as the tester only when he used the platform.

The writer, tester, editor, and fact-checker may be different people. Retained reviews separate these roles when the information is available. Our editorial policy explains each role.

What a normal test includes

The process varies by platform and by the claims we need to check. The evidence summary on an updated review shows which steps were completed.

  1. Access and eligibility. We check who can join, create an account when possible, and record the country used for the test. We normally use the tester’s real country. If location restrictions prevent normal use, we explain what we could not test.
  2. Device and access method. Most tests start on a computer. We use an app when the opportunity is app-only and record the device or platform when it affects the experience.
  3. Inside the account. We check the dashboard, earning methods, account requirements, payout options, payout threshold, country restrictions, and warning signs.
  4. Earning activities. When the account and country allow it, the tester may complete surveys, games, offers, or other relevant tasks. We do not claim that a task was completed unless the evidence summary says so.
  5. Time and repeat use. A short inspection may be enough to confirm a clear limitation or warning sign. Other tests take hours, days, months, or longer. One session cannot support every claim about long-term earnings or reliability.
  6. Payout. For a promising new platform, we normally try to reach the payout threshold and request a payment. Country restrictions or a lack of available tasks can make this impossible. If no payout was requested or received, the review should say so.
  7. Support. We contact support when a problem needs to be resolved or when the answer could change the verdict. We do not claim to have tested support when we did not contact it.
  8. Evidence and notes. Evidence may include account observations, screenshots, videos, payout or earning records, and relevant correspondence. We remove personal details before publishing evidence.

A tester may use another location for a limited look at an interface that is otherwise unavailable. We do not use location workarounds to earn, request a payout, or bypass account rules. An interface-only inspection cannot support a payout claim and is not presented as normal use from that country.

What our test labels mean

Personally Tested
The tester shown on the review logged in and used enough relevant parts of the platform to support the claims made on the page. The evidence summary states what was done, when it was done, and what was not tested. This label does not mean that a payout was reached or received.
Partially Tested
The tester accessed the platform but could not complete one or more important parts of the normal user journey. This can happen because of country restrictions, account restrictions, or the nature of remote-job, freelance, gig, data-entry, and AI-training platforms. The review states which steps were missing.
Research Only
No PaidFromSurveys tester logged in for the current review. The article uses identified sources such as official provider information, independent reporting, or attributable user feedback. This label is not evidence of personal use.
Payout Verified
We have clear proof that the platform pays. The strongest proof is a payout that our own tester received. We also use this label when other people show clear proof of a payment. The review says whose proof it is. A platform’s own claims or its reputation are not enough for this label. Where appropriate, we publish the proof with personal details removed.
No Longer Available
The platform has closed or no longer accepts new members. The review states how and when we checked this.
Re-tested
A tester logged in again after the original test and checked for material changes. The review shows the retest date, what was checked, and whether the verdict changed.

How we use sources

For claims about what a tester saw or did, direct test evidence is the strongest source. For company rules, country availability, payout methods, privacy terms, fees, and platform status, we first check the platform’s current pages or logged-in account information. We may also use independent reporting and attributable audience feedback when it provides information we could not verify directly.

The review should identify the source when a claim is not based on the tester’s own use. Provider claims are described as provider claims. One user’s experience is not presented as a result everyone should expect. If reliable information is unavailable, we state the limitation or leave the claim out.

How ratings work

Every review we update gets a score out of 100. Seven things make up that score, and payouts count the most.

  • Payout reliability and transparency Does the platform pay, and is it clear about fees, limits, and rules?25
  • Earning potential How much can you realistically earn, and how good are the tasks?20
  • Time efficiency and qualification How long do tasks take, and how often do you qualify for them?15
  • Usability and onboarding How easy is it to join and find your way around?15
  • Country availability Which countries can join, and how well does it work there?10
  • Support, privacy, and transparency Can you get help, how is your data handled, and is it clear who runs the platform?10
  • Unique benefits or limits Anything that sets the platform apart, for better or worse.5

Total100 points

Each review gives the reason for every part of the score. If we do not have enough evidence to score a part fairly, we say so instead of guessing.

The star rating on an updated review is the same score on a five-point scale. For example, 84 points out of 100 is 4.2 stars.

The score is only part of the verdict. The review also says who the platform suits, who should skip it, its main drawbacks, what we did not test, and how results differ by country and profile.

Affiliate relationships do not decide the verdict

PaidFromSurveys earns money from some, but not most, of the platforms it reviews. A commercial relationship does not decide whether a platform is included, recommended, or given a particular rating. Mikael rejects most promotional approaches and does not recommend a platform solely because it pays a commission.

A partner may give us access to information or a test account. We disclose that access when it affected how the review was produced. We still include relevant drawbacks and may lower a rating or withdraw a recommendation when new evidence changes our view. Read our affiliate disclosure for more detail.

When we retest or update a review

We may revisit a platform when an audience member reports a change, the provider announces an update, a tester notices something different, or the page reaches our update queue. Mikael checks many of the platforms he recommends most often, but the timing varies by platform.

We add a new date only when the test, evidence, or content was materially reviewed. The review should show separate dates for the last test or retest and the last content update.

Older reviews and current limitations

PaidFromSurveys has close to 2,000 articles created over many years. We are applying this methodology to retained reviews as we check them. An older review may not yet contain every test field described here. Until it has been reviewed, do not assume that a personal-experience statement means Mikael performed every part of the test himself.
