Hummr is a mobile app that claims you can earn by chatting and talking to other members. It’s certainly an interesting way to earn, so I decided to take a closer look at what it offers since I’m always looking for new ways to earn extra cash online.
The big question is, is it legit or just another scam?
This Hummr review will not only address that question but will also show you what it offers. That way, you’ll know exactly what to expect from it before you even sign up.
Then, you can decide if it is worth it or not. So, let’s dive in.
What is Hummr, and what does it offer?
Hummr is essentially a social media app that will let you earn by chatting and taking calls from other members of the app. And yes, it is legit because you can earn from it.
However, that doesn’t mean what it offers is a great way to earn extra cash. To figure out if it is worth it, the first step is to understand how it works. The only way to do so is to examine the earning opportunities it offers so you will have a clear idea of how good it is.

Option 1 – Communicating with Members
The main way to earn from Hummr is by chatting or taking calls from other members of the platform. In short, you must communicate with other members. When you become a member of Hummr, you must build your profile by indicating your interests.
You can also include a brief description of what you are willing to talk about with other members. This is to give them an idea of what you can offer. From what I’ve observed while exploring the app, members offer a variety of services/topics, which, I would say, can be classified as “anything under the sun”. So, it’s really up to you what you are comfortable with.
After you’ve set up your profile, you must indicate the rate of the services you offer. As shown in the photo above, you can earn up to $1 per message you send to other members. For taking calls, you can earn up to $25 per minute and for video calls, the highest rate you can set is $50 per minute.
That being said, you should only set your rates to the maximum amount if you offer professional advice. For anything else, it should be significantly lower, in my opinion, if you want to attract clients. Setting your rates, in my opinion, is the most important step to earning from Hummr.
You don’t want to set a rate that’s too high, but you also don’t want to set it too low and wind up getting underpaid. That’s why you must carefully figure out what your rates are. It will help if you look at the profile of other members to get a good idea of the rates you can apply.
Once all those steps are done, all you have to do is wait for someone to get in touch with you to earn. If you want to speed up the process, your best strategy is to interact with other members so you can put your profile out there for people to see.
As for the actual earning process, you must use the app to chat with or take calls from other members so that Hummr can calculate your earnings. It will not work if you use another platform because Hummr won’t be able to bill the member you are communicating with.
Your earnings will be credited to your Hummr wallet, and I will discuss how you can withdraw them later.
So, as you can see, while it may sound like a great idea to earn extra cash, actually earning from it is not a guarantee, which is why it is not a great option if you are looking for a reliable way to earn extra cash, in my opinion.
Option 2 – Referral Program
The other way to earn from Hummr is through its referral program. All you have to do is invite people to join the platform by sharing your referral link with them. Then, when they click your link and sign up as a member, they will become your referral once they log in to the app.
As for the reward you will receive, unfortunately, the app’s website doesn’t have any information about referral rewards posted. All it says is that you’ll earn a certain amount for every referral, so it’s quite hard to gauge the potential of this earning opportunity.
I was never able to figure out what you will earn from it because Hummr is not something I would recommend to my friends, and later, you will understand why.

How do you get paid?
As explained above, you’ll earn a certain amount from communicating with other members of the platform. The amount will show up in your Hummr wallet. But how will you be able to withdraw your earnings?
Well, you can withdraw your earnings via PayPal, direct bank transfer, or Paytm. You can also transfer your earnings to other members of the platform. To withdraw/transfer your earnings, you must earn at least $10, which is a relatively low threshold, in my opinion.
In my opinion, Hummr’s payment system is relatively straightforward. I like the fact that it offers convenient payment methods like direct bank transfer. How much money can you make?
While you may be able to earn good money from Hummr since you can set your rates, the reality is that its earning potential is quite low, in my opinion. That’s because getting people to chat or call you isn’t that easy.
You have to spend a lot of time interacting with members of the app to even have a small chance of getting clients. And to be honest, most of the people you will see in Hummr are strangers. So, it’s quite hard to connect with strangers on an online platform, in my opinion. It’s not like Instagram or Facebook, where you know most of the people you interact with.
Unless you prefer interacting with strangers, then there’s really little reason to invest a lot of time in it, in my opinion. And to succeed in the earning opportunity it offers, you must establish a connection with other members (which will take time) so that they are willing to pay to talk to you.
Can you use it on a desktop?
Hummr is a mobile-only platform, so you will need to use your phone to earn from it. As for the app, it is relatively user-friendly, and the user interface looks a lot like X (formerly Twitter).
The app works with both Android and iOS devices, so compatibility won’t be a problem. The overall user experience it provides is relatively pleasant, in my opinion. It’s what you would expect from a social media platform. That being said, it looks cheap compared to the giants like Instagram, X, and Facebook, in my opinion.
Who can join Hummr?
The app doesn’t tell you which countries it is available in, but from what I can tell, it is available worldwide, so you should be able to sign up as a member anywhere in the world.
To register, you must be at least 18 years of age. Then, you can sign up using your email address or Google account. Once you are done with the registration process, you can log in to the dashboard and start working on your profile.
As explained earlier, setting up your profile is a very important step, so you must not do it haphazardly.
Can you get support?
If you have questions about the app, you can check out the FAQ section inside the app. It discusses most of the basic topics you need to know about Hummr. If you can’t find the answers you are looking for, you can email your inquiry to support@hummr.net.
One thing I noticed while exploring the app’s website is that none of the support links on the website will take you to the support pages. They just take you back to the homepage, which I found a bit annoying. So, if you want to check out the Help or FAQ page, you must open the app.
Overall, I would say it provides the bare minimum in terms of support since it offers a way for you to contact their support team. However, I do wish their FAQ or Help page would also be available on the site so you don’t have to open the app just to check for FAQs.
Final Verdict
Hummr is a legit app that will let you earn by chatting or talking to other members. It has a couple of decent features, but it also has certain disadvantages you must consider.
