Option 1 – Tutoring

The primary way to earn from MyTutor is by tutoring students. There are two types of tutoring in MyTutor – the Schools Programme and Private tutoring. All tutors will start with the Schools Programme, where you’ll be asked to log in to the member dashboard and pick a schedule for the classes you want to teach.

You can accept any number of classes, but you must make sure you will be present in all of them. If something comes up and you can’t make it, you have to request cover (meaning MyTutor will find a replacement tutor for the class). I’m not exactly sure about the maximum number of requests you can make per month, but there’s a limit to it, so make sure not to abuse it.

Otherwise, MyTutor will see you as an unreliable tutor and will not prioritize you for any opportunities in the future.

Once you’ve chosen the classes, all that’s left is to show up at the designated time and teach the class. Remember that this is an online tutoring platform, so you will have to hold your class online using video conferencing software.

The other way to conduct tutoring sessions is by private lessons. For this method, you’ll have to be chosen by MyTutor as one of the tutors who can conduct a private tutoring session. How do you get paid?

When working as a tutor, you’ll get paid per class. You’ll start with a certain base rate depending on the tutoring service you rendered (refer to the photo below).

The lowest amount you can earn per class/session will be £12.83 and the highest will be £26.50. Later, I will discuss how you can increase your rate.

As for the payment method used, you will be paid directly into your bank account twice a month. Lessons completed between the 1st and 15^th of each month will be paid on the 16^th to 18th of each month, while lessons completed between the 16th and end of the month will be paid around the 2nd to 4th of the following month.

The way their system works is that for every class you finish in the Schools Programme, you will receive 1 coin. Then, once you’ve accumulated enough coins, you’ll automatically be moved up to the next pay rate tier.

For example, if you’ve completed 30 classes, instead of earning £14 per class in the Schools Programme, you’ll get paid £16. The highest tier you reach is the Diamon tier, which requires you to complete at least 750 classes.

Now, while MyTutor pays well, in my opinion, it doesn’t necessarily mean you will earn a lot from it. As I’ve mentioned earlier, the main issue is that there aren’t a lot of students to go around. That means there won’t be a lot of classes to teach, which will, in turn, lead to fewer opportunities to earn.
