Nielsen Broadband Panel claims you can make your internet usage count and earn just by using your internet as you usually do.
This definitely sounds very appealing, right?
But before you register as a member, you have to check if it really is legit and safe or a scam to stay away from.
And if it is legit, will it then even be worth joining?
In this Nielsen Broadband Panel review, you will get the answers to these questions and get an inside look so you know exactly what to expect and can find out if it is the right opportunity fit for you or not.
So, let’s go ahead and take a closer look at what it has to offer.
What is Nielsen Broadband Panel, and what does it offer?
Nielsen Broadband Panel is a website that is designed to assess the status of broadband service performance across Australia.
This means it will only be available to people who live in Australia. So, if you live somewhere else, I would suggest you skip this review and check out passive earning apps in other countries.
It is owned by the same company that brought you Nielsen Computer & Mobile Panel and Nielsen Homescan. Both sites are legit.
And since the same company owns Nielsen Broadband Panel, it is also safe to say that yes, Nielsen Broadband Panel is also a legit site that will really pay you for participating in the earning opportunities it offers
Now, if you are eligible to join (I will discuss later how you can sign up), you may be wondering how you will be able to earn. So, let’s go ahead and examine the earning opportunities it offers so you can understand how it works.
I have made a short video that will give you an inside look so you can see exactly how it works. You can also read all the details below the video:

Option 1 – Using their Whitebox
What’s great about Nielsen Broadband Panel is that you don’t really have to do anything special to earn. It offers a passive form of earning.
All you really have to do is use your internet connection like you normally would.

However, there are a few steps you have to complete first before you can start earning. And as shown in the photo above, it all starts with signing up as a member.
Once you’ve registered, you will first have to be approved. If you get approved, they will send you a device you need to install to start the earning process.
They call this device “Whitebox”. But what does this device do? The Whitebox is a dedicated device for measuring your internet performance. And no, it doesn’t affect your internet connection’s performance.
It simply measures a range of network and application-specific properties like download and upload speed, video streaming, online gaming stability, latency, packet loss, and a lot more. As for privacy issues, the device will NOT “look at” your internet activities.
It will simply collect the results of network testing. Your private information will not be collected when the device is in use. So, there won’t be any privacy breaches, which is a good thing.
You will then earn rewards every week the Whitebox is running. So, you will passively earn rewards since the device will be the one doing all the work. You just have to go about doing what you would usually do with your internet connection.
Option 2 – Using their App
Another way you can earn rewards is to install their app.
You can use this app to test your internet connection (I will discuss more about their mobile app later). But basically, you will just have to use the app from time to time and run the connection tests.
You will then earn rewards when you continue using the app. That’s all you really need to do. Install it on your mobile device and use it from time to time.

How do you get paid?
Nielsen Broadband Panel uses a point system for its rewards. For the first month of using their device, you will receive a certain number of points every week the device is connected. Then, for the next succeeding months, you will earn points monthly.

You can then use the points you’ve earned to redeem various gift cards (refer to the photo above). The minimum number of points required to redeem a gift card is 100 points and that will be worth 10 AUD. That means 10 points will be equivalent to 1 AUD.
Here’s a sample of some of the gift cards you can redeem: Coles, Woolworths, JB Hi-Fi, Myer, David Jones, Kmart, Caltex, and many other stores (subject to availability).
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to earn cash. If you prefer to earn cash, I recommend you check out the top sites that pay via PayPal instead.
How much money can you make?
The amount of money you can earn from Nielsen will be fixed. So, you could say it offers equal opportunity for its members.
The photo below will show you how much you will earn for becoming an active member.

As you can see in the photo, you will immediately earn 10 AUD for simply installing and connecting your Whitebox device. You will also earn additional rewards for installing their app.
Then, as mentioned earlier, in the first month of use, you will earn a certain number of points for every week your Whitebox is connected. In fact, you will earn 30 AUD in just your first month.
For the second month and onwards, you will only receive rewards per month. You will get 2.5 AUD every month. It is not a huge reward, but you won’t actually have to do anything special to earn it, which is great.
But they do actually offer a way for you to earn more since you will automatically be entered in their monthly prize draw as long as you keep using their Whitebox. The prize for their monthly prize draw is 1,000 AUD, which is a really great prize and higher than what I have seen on other Get-Paid-To sites.
Just don’t count it as an amount you will earn from it since everything will be based on chance. If you ever win, just think of it as a pleasant surprise so you won’t be disappointed.
Overall, I would say the earning potential is not bad. And since you don’t really need to put in any effort (except at the beginning when you are setting everything up) to earn, then I would say it’s a great opportunity you should take advantage of if you are eligible to join.
Can you use it on mobile?
As explained above, you don’t actually have to do anything else when you’ve set up everything, but they do have a cool mobile app you can download, which you can use to test your mobile internet connection.
Their app will work with both Android and iOS devices, so compatibility won’t be an issue.

But, the app is not exactly available in the Android and iOS app stores. To download their app, you will have to log in to the site and download the installer. You will then have to install it manually. So, if you don’t know how to install mobile apps to your device manually, make sure to read up on how to do it first.
As for their app, it’s quite user-friendly, so you won’t have a hard time getting used to how it works.
Who can join Nielsen Broadband Panel?
As mentioned earlier in this review, Nielsen Broadband Panel is only available in Australia. So, if you don’t live in Australia, then this is not for you.
Now, if you are eligible to join, you just have to go through a small survey and then a short screener phone call to make sure you match the panel.
I’ve included an invite link at the end of this review. Simply click that button to sign up.
Can you get support?
If you have any questions about the site or your account, you can first check out their FAQ page. It covers most of the basic things you need to know about the site.
If you can’t find the answers you are looking for, you can contact their support team instead. And the good thing is, you can get in touch with their support department in a couple of ways. You can either use the contact form in their Contact Us page or you can call them at 1800-334-440 if you want to speak to a representative immediately.
Overall, I would say they have a good support system in place for their members. I especially like that they have a hotline you can call if you want to speak to a support representative directly. This will help resolve questions or concerns a lot faster.
Final Verdict
Nielsen Broadband Panel is a legit site that will pay you for simply installing their device and letting it run in the background. It offers a couple of good features, but it also has some limitations you need to be aware of.
So, let me conclude this review with a summary of its pros and cons to give you an overview of what the site has to offer. That way, you can decide if it is really a good fit for you or not.

Pros:
- Offers a passive way of earning
- Their device will not interfere in any way with your internet connection or your privacy
- Great joining bonus (30 AUD in your first month)
- Good reward options

Cons:
- Limited earning opportunities
- No cash rewards offered
In my opinion, Nielsen Broadband Panel is a good site to join if you are eligible. The main reason for this is the passive earning opportunity they offer. Apart from the initial setup, you don’t actually have to put in any effort to earn. Not a lot of sites offer that kind of opportunity.
It does have a couple of drawbacks. You won’t be able to earn cash, but the good thing is that they have a wide variety of great gift cards you can redeem. You will also earn less after the first month of using their device and app. But since you don’t really have to put in any effort to earn, I would still say it’s a great way to get a hold of some rewards.
But if you are looking to earn cash, I would instead suggest you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country. The sites on this list all have good earning potential, and most, if not all, offer cash rewards.
Plus, you will definitely be able to find a site you can join regardless of where you live.
