There’s a unique website I recently came across called PromptBase. It claims you can sell your AI prompts inside its marketplace. All you have to do is sign up as a member to start selling them.
If this is something you are interested in, I urge you to keep reading this PromptBase review because it will show you all the facts you need to know. That way, you can properly figure out if this is worth using or not.
With that said, let’s begin.
What is PromptBase, and what does it offer?
PromptBase is an online marketplace for AI prompts. To earn from it, you must sell AI prompts for various AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and more.
And yes, it is legit, since you can really earn from the prompts you sell. Now, the question is, is it worth it?
Well, the only way to find out is to understand exactly how it works. The best way to do that is to take a closer look at the earning opportunity it offers.
So, here’s how you can earn from PromptBase.
The earning opportunity – Selling AI prompts
The only way to earn from PromptBase is to sell your AI prompts in its marketplace. You’ll have to create a listing for your AI prompt.

You’ll need to indicate the type of content your prompt will generate (video, image, or text), as well as which AI model it will be used for. Then, you’ll have to indicate the price of the prompt. I’m not exactly sure if you can change it because when I was testing the site, it only asked me to select the price instead of typing it in.
I was given these options for the prices – $2.99, $3.99, $4.99, $5.99, and $6.99. Once you’ve finished your listing, it will now appear in PromptBase’s marketplace.
Of course, you’ll only earn if someone buys your AI prompt. So, technically speaking, this is not a guaranteed way to earn. You’ll have a better chance of earning if you promote your listing outside of PromptBase, in my opinion.
PromptBase, from time to time, will feature unique prompts on its Twitter and Instagram pages. Generally, these prompts will need to demonstrate a unique original idea and work extremely consistently for it to be handpicked by the site.
So, if you set that as your goal when figuring out which AI prompts to sell, you’ll have a higher chance of selling them. The good thing is that you can create as many listings as you want, and you’ll have plenty of chances to get featured.
Now, if somebody buys your prompt, you will receive 80% of the amount paid. The remaining 20% will be PromptBase’s cut, which is to be expected since the site does provide this service for free. In the next section, I will discuss how you can withdraw your earnings.
One thing to note when selling AI prompts is that these must be original.
PromptBase has no way of checking if they are original or not, and frankly speaking, this is still a gray area. But selling AI prompts that you did not create is unethical because you are trying to earn from somebody else’s work, in my opinion. So, don’t do that.

How do you get paid?
Every time someone buys your prompt, you will earn the amount you set for it, and it will be stored in your account balance. When you’ve earned at least $30, which is a high threshold, in my opinion, PromptBase will process the payment and send it to your bank account via Stripe.

What happens is that at the end of the month, PromptBase will check if you have reached the threshold. If you managed to hit the threshold, PromptBase will process the payment automatically on the first day of the following month.
Just take note that you have to be a member of the site for at least 30 days before you can withdraw your earnings. PromptBase will also let you withdraw your earnings even if you didn’t reach the threshold, but that will incur a $3.99 fee.
So, it’s not a good idea to do so if you want to maximize the amount you will receive from the site.
Overall, I would say its payout system is relatively straightforward. I like the fact that it uses a convenient payout method.
However, its payout threshold is a bit high. If you prefer sites with a low payout threshold, I recommend you check out the best sites with a low or no payout threshold.
How much money can you make?
The amount you can earn from PromptBase will mostly depend on how well you market the prompts you are selling. If you are only going to wait for someone to buy your prompts, it will take quite a while before you can earn a significant amount.
That’s why you must be proactive if you want to earn a decent amount quickly. You must promote your listings on other platforms. To do that, you’ll need to establish an audience, which takes quite a lot of time and effort.
Aside from that, PromptBase also charges a significant amount (20%) for its services, which is why I would consider its earning potential to be not that good. You’ll have to invest a lot of time and effort to earn a good amount from the opportunity PromptBase offers.

Can you use it on mobile?
PromptBase doesn’t have a mobile app you can download, but its website is optimized for mobile use, so you can use it conveniently on your phone. This can be quite useful, especially if you want to find out if anyone has bought your prompts.
But if you are going to create prompt listings, I suggest you use your computer for that. It’s easier and more convenient to do that when you are in front of your computer.
Who can join PromptBase?
Technically speaking, you can sign up as a member of PromptBase anywhere in the world.
However, it has stopped accepting new sellers in certain countries, so there’s a chance that if you attempt to sign up, you won’t be accepted when you select your country. If that happens, you can just try again in a few weeks.

As for the sign-up process, you can use your email address or Google account to register. Then, it will walk you through creating your first listing. Make sure to pay attention to how you can create listings because you’ll have to do more of it at some point.
Once you are done creating your first listing, you will be taken to the member dashboard, where you can explore all the features of the site.
Can you get support?
If you have questions, you can check out its FAQ section. It discusses most of the basic topics you need to know about the site. But if you can’t find the answers you need, you can contact its support department instead.
You can email your inquiry to hello@promptbase.com, or you can join its Discord channel if you want to chat with a representative or other members directly. To get the link to its Discord channel, just go to the Contact page of the website.
Overall, I would say it provides decent support to its members since it offers a couple of convenient ways for you to get help.
Final Verdict
PromptBase is a unique website that will let you earn by selling AI prompts. It has a couple of advantages, but it also has certain limitations you must consider.
To help you decide, here’s a summary of its pros and cons, so you can see a clear overview of what it offers.

Pros:
- Offers a convenient payout method
- Processes payouts automatically

Cons:
- Doesn’t offer a guaranteed way to earn
- High payout threshold
In my opinion, PromptBase is not for everyone. If you have the skills to create useful and effective AI prompts, then this can be a good option to try and earn some extra cash. Just be aware that there’s no guarantee you will earn immediately when you create a listing.
You still have to do the work to promote your listings because if you just rely on people finding your prompts, it can take quite a while before you can earn. So, if you are not ready to do that, then this is not for you.
I recommend you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead, if you are looking for simpler yet great ways to earn extra cash. The sites and apps on this list all have good earning potential, so you can earn a decent amount quickly and easily.
Plus, you will definitely find a site you can join regardless of where you live.
