WeLocalize Review – Worth It? (Not for Everyone)

WeLocalize Rating

WeLocalize can be a good site to look for jobs, but only for people who have the skills for the jobs it offers. If you are looking for simple jobs, then this is not your best option because the site is looking for specific people for the jobs it offers.

Are you looking to earn extra income? If so, you have maybe already encountered a website called WeLocalize, and you are wondering if it is worth it or not.

Well, you’ve come to the right place. I have tested it, and in this WeLocalize review, I’ll break down what WeLocalize freelancing involves, its pros and cons, pay rates, and whether it’s a good fit for your remote earning goals.

So, let’s get cracking, shall we?

What is WeLocalize, and what does it offer?

WeLocalize is a global localization and translation company providing services in translation, transcreation, linguistic testing, and AI training data preparation. To earn, you have to apply for the jobs posted by the website.

And in case you are wondering, YES, it is legit because the opportunities it offers are really legit. But the big question is, is it worth it?

Well, the only way to find out is to understand how it works. And to do so, we must take a closer look at the earning opportunity it offers. So, here’s how you can potentially earn from WeLocalize.

The earning opportunity – Jobs

The only way to earn from WeLocalize is to apply for jobs offered by the site. There are project-based jobs available, but there are also full-time positions offered.

What’s great about this opportunity is that you don’t have to log in to its website to view all the jobs available.

You'll have to apply for the jobs posted to earn.

You can just scroll down and click the links under the Job Opening section. The photo shown above is for the project-based opportunities. As you can see, most of the project-based jobs available are translation, transcreation, linguistic testing, QA testing, and AI training data preparation jobs.

So, you’ll need to have a certain set of skills to qualify for the jobs listed on the site. These job offers are also location-based. Some of them require you to be on site, while others can be done remotely.

If you see an offer you are interested in, just click it to see the full details of the job offer. On this page, you will see the requirements to qualify, job responsibilities, pay rate, duration, benefits, and more.

Then, if you want to proceed with the application, just click the “Apply for this Job” button. Later, I will talk about the application process.

Now, if you get hired, all that’s left to do to earn is to do your job. In the next section, I will talk about how you will get paid.

There are not a lot of jobs available, and as mentioned earlier, the job offers are quite specific, so there’s a chance that you won’t find anything that will fit your skill set or expertise. If this happens, you’ll just have to keep checking every couple of days if there are new opportunities for you.

How do you get paid?

Every job will have a fixed rate. Most of the time, the rate will be shown on the details page of the job offer.

As for the payment method that will be used, that would depend on your employer. Normally, this will be discussed during the hiring process, so you will immediately know what type of payment method will be used.

And just to make it clear, it won’t be WeLocalize that will be handling the payments. It will be your employers.

In my experience, the payment methods that will usually be used are PayPal, Payoneer, or direct bank transfer. In terms of payment schedule, it will be made usually once or twice a month, just like when you are working on any other job.

Overall, I would consider its payout system to be relatively convenient, which is to be expected from a site like this. If you are interested in more sites that use a convenient payout method, I recommend you also check out the top sites that pay via direct bank transfer.

How much money can you make?

All of the jobs offered by WeLocalize require special skills, so you should expect to receive competitive pay or at least well within the industry standard. Typically, the rates for linguistic QA jobs will be $15 to $25 per hour, which is not a bad rate, in my opinion.

For simple labeling tasks, the rate will be a bit lower.

When I was checking out the site, I never saw any job offer that didn’t offer a good rate, but the biggest factor that can contribute to how much you can earn from WeLocalize is how often you can land a job.

As mentioned, job offers are location-based, and most (if not all) of them require a certain skill set. This means it can be hard to find a job that will fit you. You can consider yourself lucky if you manage to land a job from it once a year, but this, of course, depends on your specific skills.

That being said, landing even just one job will let you earn a decent amount for the duration of the job. This is why I would say its earning potential is good if you manage to land a job.

Can you use it on mobile?

You can use your mobile phone to browse the job offers posted. But apart from that, all of the jobs offered by WeLocalize will require the use of a computer, so you will need to sit in front of one if you want to earn.

Now, I also don’t recommend you use your mobile phone to apply for the jobs posted, and in the next section, you will understand why. So, to answer the question above, NO, you can’t.

Who can join WeLocalize?

Technically speaking, you don’t have to sign up for this website. As explained earlier, you can immediately apply for the jobs posted without having to log in to a member dashboard.

So, let me instead discuss who it is for. WeLocalize is ideal for people who belong in these categories:

  • Bilingual and Multilingual Individuals
  • Freelancers Interested in AI and Language Data Work
  • Aspiring Translators or Localization Specialists
  • Those Looking for Remote, Global Opportunities

If you don’t belong in any of the categories mentioned above, then this is not for you. As for its application process, I recommend you sit in front of a computer when applying for a job because you have to type in a lot of details.

It’s quite hard to do on your mobile phone, even if you apply using your LinkedIn profile, which is an option that the site offers. It will only pre-fill parts of the application form. You will still have to fill out the fields with missing information.

Now, after submitting your application form, you’ll just have to wait for them to reach out to you. This will only happen if they are interested in hiring you. So, the next step is to check your email inbox regularly.

The site doesn’t say exactly when you will hear back from them, so you have to be patient. If you receive an email, it will contain the instructions for the next phase. Simply follow the instructions on what you need to do, but you can typically expect that there will be an interview conducted, as well as an onboarding process.

This is the part where you can clarify all the details of the job, including the rate and payment method. After you’ve finished the application process, all that’s left is to do the job you were hired to do. In some cases, you will also have to go through training, which is normal, although I’m not exactly sure if you will get paid during the training period. Usually, this can vary depending on the job.

You can clarify those things during the interview or onboarding process.

Can you get support?

The website doesn’t have an FAQ or Help section you can check out if you have questions. This is to be expected, because what WeLocalize does is just present you with opportunities to earn.

If you have questions about the job offers, you’ll have to address your concerns to your employer. Keep in mind that you will only get to do this if you get hired. When that happens, I would expect that your employer will provide all the support you need to do your job properly.

Final Verdict

WeLocalize is a legit site that offers an opportunity for you to earn extra cash by taking on translation, transcreation, linguistic testing, and AI training data preparation jobs. It has a couple of good features, but it also has certain limitations you need to know.

To wrap up this review, here’s a summary of its pros and cons, so you can see a clear overview of what it offers. Then, you can decide if it is for you or not.

pros

Pros:

  • Offers decent pay per job
  • You don’t have to sign up to apply for a job
cons

Cons:

  • Requires a certain level of commitment to earn
  • The application process is quite long
  • The jobs offered require a certain set of skills

In my opinion, WeLocalize is a great site to look for jobs, but only for people who have the skills for the jobs it offers. If you are looking for simple jobs, then this is not your best option because the site is looking for specific people for the jobs it offers.

You can check out the best freelance sites instead if that is the case. But if you qualify for the jobs it offers, then you stand to earn a good amount if you get hired. So, if you fit the bill, then you can go for it.

Now, if you are just looking for an easy way to earn extra cash, I recommend you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead. The sites and apps on this list all have good earning potential, so you can earn a decent amount quickly.
