Answering surveys and testing websites or apps are great ways to earn extra cash online.

But did you know that you can leverage AI to make the earning process for these kinds of opportunities easier and faster? And you can do it ethically and legitimately.

In this article, I will show you how to use AI for surveys and user testing to speed up your earnings when working on these kinds of earning opportunities, based on my own experiences.

So, let’s get started.

What to expect when using AI for surveys?

As mentioned above, I will go over how you can use AI to earn more efficiently both for paid surveys and user testing. Let’s start by going over surveys, and then after that, we will go over how to use them for user testing.

I have taken thousands of online surveys myself over the past 8 years, and since the rise of AI, I have started testing how to use it to earn more efficiently online in general, so the info below is based on my own real experiences and testing.

Before we talk about the ways to use AI for surveys, let’s discuss what you should expect when using AI while answering surveys.

First of all, you can’t just let AI answer the surveys for you. It goes against the terms and conditions laid out by survey sites.

It makes sense since survey sites are after your genuine thoughts on a topic, so it is unethical to use AI to generate answers for the surveys you answer. Aside from that, if survey companies started allowing that, they wouldn’t need you anymore, so you wouldn’t be able to earn from this kind of earning opportunity.

Lastly, you shouldn’t even attempt to use AI to answer the surveys for you because survey companies are also using different systems that can detect AI-generated answers. When they detect if you are using AI to automatically take surveys (and they will), they will just ban you, and you will lose all your earnings.

So, how can you use AI properly when answering surveys?

The options I have listed below are the best way you can leverage AI when working paid surveys from survey sites legitimately and ethically. You can also watch the video below if you prefer a more visual approach. It shows both the surveys and user testing methods.

I’ll keep adding more if I discover more ethical ways to use AI for surveys, so make sure to bookmark this page and check on it from time to time for updates.

Option 1 – Summarizing Content

An ethical way to use AI when answering surveys is to let it summarize the descriptions or instructions of the longer surveys. This is especially helpful with higher-paying surveys since they tend to have a very long description or involve many steps.

With the summary, you can quickly figure out if it is worth your time or if you meet the criteria for the survey. You don’t have to sit and read one or two pages of description/instructions and later find out you are not eligible for it.

Plus, the best thing about this method is that you can just use the free version of AI tools like ChatGPT to do this. You won’t have to get the premium version since this is one of the basic functions of AI tools like ChatGPT.

AI tools like ChatGPT can help you go through long surveys because you can speed read and go over the main points of the survey quickly. When AI summarizes the survey, you can see the overview and the bullet points, so you can quickly understand what it is trying to convey.

Option 2 – Structuring Open-ended Responses

ChatGPT and other AI tools can also help you structure your responses properly. This can be very helpful in surveys that require open-ended, longer responses. If you are having a hard time articulating your thoughts, you can use AI to structure your response properly.

It will still count as a genuine reply since all the AI tool does is arrange your thoughts into a more coherent response. Survey owners will even appreciate this, in my opinion, because they can also easily understand your feedback.

Option 3 – Translations

AI tools can also help you translate a survey into the language you prefer. This can be very helpful if you are currently residing in a country where you are not that good at the native language. You see, there are survey sites that will use the local language when presenting surveys.

So, if you can’t understand it well, you can’t answer it properly. Therefore, your best bet is to use an auto-translate plugin like Google Translate to help translate the survey to a language you understand.

What’s great about this method now is that translation tools have become better and better over the past couple of years, so there’s a very high chance that you will be getting an accurate translation. Just remember that this method doesn’t always work on all survey sites.

Some survey sites prohibit you from using any form of translation tools, so don’t be alarmed if the plug-in can’t translate the text.

Option 4 – Correcting Grammar

An AI tool like Grammarly can help ensure the responses you provide use correct grammar. In my opinion, using proper grammar helps you convey your message a lot better, so that the reader (in this case, the survey provider) can understand your feedback clearly.

What’s great about this is that Grammarly has a free version you can use, so you don’t have to spend a dime to leverage this method.

What is user testing?

Now, you know how to use AI for surveys, so let’s talk about user testing.

In case you don’t know what user testing is, it is a form of earning opportunity that will ask you to test websites or mobile apps by completing tasks. Most of the time, it will also ask you to record your screen while testing the site or app.

Then, you also have to speak out your thoughts regarding what you are doing. Plus, you’ll also be asked to write your feedback on your report. It’s a great way to get direct feedback from users, so you can usually expect to get paid a good amount.

It’s also a fun way to earn extra cash because you get to discover certain bugs of a site or app. It’s best for people who have a good eye for detail.

3 Ways to use AI for user testing

It is important to note that you can’t let an AI tool do the testing for you. It requires feedback from real people, but it can speed up a few things for you, so you can earn more efficiently. Below are ethical ways to use AI for user testing.

Option 1 – Scripting Your Feedback

If you are struggling to articulate your feedback or don’t know where to start while testing an app or website, you can let an AI tool like ChatGPT lay out the bullet points on what usability issues to look for when you are testing an app or site.

This can serve as your guide while you are going through the test, so you can be more thorough with the test. It’s a very useful way to help prepare you for the testing process, based on my experience.

Option 2 – Summarizing Findings

Some user testing platforms will ask you to write a report on your findings while testing the site or app.

You can then use ChatGPT (or any other AI tool) to organize your notes while testing. This can help you write better paragraphs of your findings, which can help the reviewer easily understand your feedback.

I do have to stress the importance that you should only use it as a draft for your report, which means you shouldn’t copy it word for word. You still have to adjust it and add your personal touch before you submit it.

Option 3 – Building Your Profile

Most user testing platforms will require you to create your profile so that they can determine which user testing projects to send your way.

When creating your profile, you will usually be asked to write something about yourself, which, in my experience, is where most people have a hard time articulating what they mean.

So, you can use AI tools to help build a profile that best describes you. I know a lot of people have a hard time doing this, so using AI can help speed things up and ensure your profile really says who you are as a tester.

What’s great about using AI tools for this is that you can ask it to follow specific guidelines like word count, tone, etc.

Final Thoughts

That sums up the best ways you can leverage AI tools to help you answer surveys and test websites or apps.

Keep in mind that AI tools can only help you do the work a lot quicker. It is not meant to do all the work for you, which is why if you want to earn from answering surveys or by testing mobile apps and sites, you must also be prepared to put in the effort.
