Mercury Opinion claims you can earn rewards just by sharing your opinions through online surveys. On the surface, it looks like a simple and easy way to get paid for answering questions.
But as with most survey sites, what matters isn’t what it promises, it’s how it actually works, how reliable the rewards are, and whether it’s worth your time at all.
I have tested hundreds of survey sites over the years, so I have an extensive background on what to look out for, which is why I decided to test out this site to see if it is worth it or not.
In this Mercury Opinion review, I will give you an honest look at what it offers, so you will know exactly what to expect from it before you sign up. Then, you can decide if you should ignore this panel or sign up for it.
So, let’s dig a little deeper, shall we?
What is Mercury Opinion, and what does it offer?
Mercury Opinion is a survey site that lets you earn rewards by answering surveys. According to its website, it is a nonpartisan survey organization that conducts public research to understand key issues and trends in America.
And yes, it is indeed legit because you can really earn rewards from the surveys you answer. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is a site worth joining. The best way to find out if it is worth it is to examine the earning opportunity it offers, so you will have a clear understanding of how it works and how good it really is.
So, here’s how to earn from Mercury Opinion.
The earning opportunity – Paid surveys
The only way to earn from Mercury Opinion is to answer paid surveys. It is different from most survey sites because it doesn’t have a member dashboard you can log in to. So, everything will be done via email.
The survey invitation will be sent via email, and it will contain the link to the survey and the reward you will earn for completing it. To start the earning process, just click the link to open the survey.
After submitting your answers, all you have to do is wait for the reward to be sent to you via email. Later, I will discuss how you will get paid by the site.
It’s a very simple process, but the biggest downside I noticed while checking out the site was the lack of earning opportunities available. There are very few surveys available, so it’s not something you can rely on.
You can consider yourself very lucky if you get to answer a survey once every couple of months. Based on my experience, this is usually the case with niche survey sites like Mercury Opinion. There won’t be many earning opportunities available.
As for the topics of the surveys, they will usually be about health care, current events, politics, and spending habits. Now, if you opted in to receive an SMS from the site, the survey opportunities will also come in the form of text messages.
The good thing about this kind of survey is that you don’t have to provide complicated answers. Think of them as polls being conducted where you just have to provide one-word answers. You’ll still receive a reward for answering it via SMS, but keep in mind that charges will apply for replying to their text message.
You can check out its Terms and Conditions page for a list of supported network carriers. It’s a very straightforward way of earning rewards, in my opinion, but the biggest problem is the lack of opportunities. Later, I will discuss what this implies.
How do you get paid?
Every time you complete a survey, you will receive the reward promised, which will be in the form of gift cards from popular retail stores (refer to the photo below).

These gift cards can be used at Amazon, UberEats, Starbucks, Target, and many more. It will be sent to you via email within 48 hours, which is a relatively quick turnaround, so you don’t have to wait a long time to receive your reward.
It’s a simple payout system, and it’s good that you don’t have to reach a threshold to receive your rewards. This is usually the case with survey sites that don’t have a member dashboard, based on my experience.
However, it's not an ideal site if you are looking to earn cash because Mercury Opinion doesn’t offer cash rewards. So, if you prefer to earn cash, I recommend you check out the top sites that pay via PayPal instead.
How much money can you make?
The amount you can earn from Mercury Opinion mainly depends on how many surveys you can answer. But as mentioned earlier, the biggest drawback of this site is that it offers very few opportunities to earn, so it’s not a reliable site to earn from, in my opinion.
As for the amount you can earn from each survey, it will range from $2 to $20, with longer surveys paying more. The time-to-money ratio isn’t actually bad, in my opinion. It’s just that there are very few surveys available, which is why I would consider its earning potential to be very low.
You can consider yourself lucky if you get to answer a survey once every couple of months. That’s why this is not an ideal option if you are looking for something to regularly earn from, in my opinion.

Can you use it on mobile?
As mentioned, it doesn’t have a member dashboard, so it is also to be expected that it doesn’t have a mobile app you can download. That being said, you can still answer surveys using your phone, since you can easily open the links through your email inbox.
Aside from that, as explained earlier, you can also receive text message invites for surveys, where you’ll just have to reply with your answer to get the reward. So, to answer the question above, YES, you can.
Who can join Mercury Opinion?
Mercury Opinion is only for people who live in the US, so if you live somewhere else, then this is not for you. If you are interested in more US survey sites, I suggest you also check out the top survey sites in the US.

To become a member of the panel, you’ll have to fill out the registration form. If you want to receive survey invites via text, you can provide your mobile number. If not, then just skip that field.
After you submit the form, all you have to do is wait for an invite. It’s a very simple sign-up process.
Can you get support?
Here’s where the website really falls short, in my opinion. It doesn’t have a lot of useful information regarding the earning opportunity it offers. It has an FAQ section, but it only discusses three topics. Aside from that, the link to the FAQ section can’t be easily found anywhere on the website.
I only found out about it because I decided to add /faq/to the homepage URL to see if it had one. But as mentioned, it doesn’t provide a lot of useful information, so if you have questions, you won’t find the answers there.
You’ll need to contact its support team instead via email. You can email them at info@mercuryopinion.org. The website shows a phone number you can call, so if you want to speak to a representative immediately, you can try calling that number.
Overall, I would say it doesn’t provide good support to its members, even though it offers a couple of ways for you to ask for help. The fact that its FAQ page isn’t easily accessible baffles me. Aside from that, they also didn’t take the time to provide more useful information about the earning opportunity it offers.
If they had at least done that, then their support could be considered decent, in my opinion.
Final Verdict
Mercury Opinion is a survey site that lets you earn rewards by answering surveys. It has some decent features, but it has glaring drawbacks you also need to know.
Let me conclude this review by summarizing its pros and cons, so you can clearly see an overview of what it offers. Then, you can decide if it is truly worth it or not.

Pros:
- Offers decent rewards per survey

Cons:
- Very limited earning opportunities
- Doesn’t offer cash rewards
- The website doesn’t have a lot of useful information about the earning opportunity
In my opinion, Mercury Opinion is not a bad site. However, it’s not that good either. Even though it offers decent rewards, the surveys are very few and far between, so you can’t reliably earn from it.
So, I would only recommend you join it if you need a secondary site to earn from and if you are okay with earning gift cards instead of cash.
But if you are looking for primary sites to earn from, I suggest you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead. The sites and apps on this list all have good earning potential, so you can earn a decent amount quickly. Most (if not all) of the sites and apps on this list offer cash rewards as well.
Plus, you will definitely find a site or app you can join regardless of where you live.
