OpinionWorld Review – Legit Surveys? (Important Advice Before Joining)

OpinionWorld Rating

OpinionWorld is user-friendly and has a decent number of surveys. You can get paid in cash or gift cards and it is availble in 20+ countries in the local language. But there are just many better survey sites, in my opinion.

As the name suggests, OpinionWorld is a survey site where you can get paid for your opinion.

But is OpinionWorld legit, or is it a scam that is just a big waste of time?

This is something you need to know before joining any paid survey site.

I have tested it thoroughly myself and have compared it to the hundreds of other survey sites I have tested.

In this OpinionWorld review, you will get all the details and will find out how much money you can make on the site, how easy it is to use, and if it, in general, is worth your time.

This will make it easy for you to decide whether it is the right survey panel for you to join or not.

What is OpinionWorld, and what does it offer?

OpinionWorld is a survey panel owned by Dynata (previously called Survey Sampling International).

This company owns several reputable survey panels like, for example, Opinion Outpost, and it is an experienced company in this field.

That is a good sign, and it means it is legit and overall a safe site to join. I have also personally been paid by OpinionWorld several times, so I know it is possible to earn as a member.

However, all Dynata panels also have some disadvantages, in my opinion, so the fact that it is legit does not necessarily mean it is the best option for you.

There are some details you need to know to decide this. First of all, you need to know what options you have as a member after you join and log in.

In short, OpinionWorld offers paid surveys and is a very basic site. By basic, I mean that there are not a lot of other options than doing surveys, so it is very easy to use and get started with.

But let's go over each of the options on OpinionWorld, so you know exactly what you get.

I have made a video walkthrough that gives you an inside look so you can see for yourself. You can also read all the details below the video if you prefer reading:

Option 1 – OpinionWorld surveys:

The way you make money on Opinion World is by taking surveys and sharing your opinion.

You will, in most cases, get an email invitation when there is a new survey available for you, so you do, in theory, not have to log in to the platform to check.

But I have, however, also experienced not always getting the email invitations. It seems a bit random when I would get them and when I would not. So it is still a good idea to regularly log in and check for available surveys yourself.

The site is, in general, very user-friendly and easy to use. You just sign up, confirm your email, and then you can start taking surveys.

opinionworld surveys steps
It is easy to get started with surveys on OpinionWorld.

The exact amount of surveys you can participate in depends a lot on the country you live in. It is not one of the survey sites with the most opportunities, but in general, it has a good amount.

An interesting thing I have found is that you can sometimes take Opinion World surveys on other platforms. You can, for example, take them through a platform like ySense. So if you do not feel like joining OpinionWorld, or if you one day do not want to be a member of it anymore, you can sometimes still take the surveys on other platforms.

But overall, the survey opportunities on OpinionWorld are decent, and it is easy to use.

Option 2 – Prize draw:

If you are very lucky, you can win a big money prize in addition to your rewards on Opinion World.

The platform has a quarterly prize draw in some countries, where the rewards are worth up to $10,000. But just be aware that the prize will vary depending on the country you live in, and the prize draw is also not available in all countries (more about which countries you can join from later).

Every time you participate in a survey, you will automatically get an entry into this draw on top of the reward for the survey itself.

Like any other lottery, it is obviously not easy to win, so do not sign up for the site just to participate in the draw. But a nice extra chance if you want to participate in the surveys anyway.

But, as mentioned, OpinionWorld does not offer a prize draw in all countries, so if this is an important feature for you, just make sure to check for your exact country before joining.

Option 3 – Donations to charities:

In some countries, you also get the chance to give a donation to a charity whenever you take a survey on OpinionWorld.

Many survey sites have donations as a payout option, but the donation option on OpinionWorld is different.

It is not something that will be taken from your reward but something OpinionWorld gives when you take a survey in addition to your reward. It does not say anywhere how big the donation is, but just says which charities you can choose from and how many donations the charity has received.

The way it works is that after you have completed a survey, you will get your reward, and you will then be asked which charity you want to support, as OpinionWorld wishes to give a donation because you completed the survey.

I think this is a nice extra touch. It would, of course, be nice to know how big a donation they give, but overall, I think it is a great idea. And remember, it will not be taken from your reward.

How do you get paid?

You earn points when you do a survey on OpinionWorld.

These points can then be exchanged to either cash through PayPal, a number of different gift cards, or be used to a number of webshops.

Which webshops and gift cards that are available depend on the country you live in.

OpinionWorld rewards
Some of the reward options on OpinionWorld.

You can request a payout to PayPal once you have earned around $5 (again, this depends on the country you live in). This is a nice low payout threshold, in my opinion.

In general, you earn points, but there are also sometimes surveys where you do not earn points but only entries into the quarterly lottery. You can see information about the reward before you choose to take a survey, and then just chose the surveys you want to take.

Sometimes you will receive emails when there is a new survey available, but not always. So it can be a good idea to check the site once in a while yourself to check if there are any available surveys.

How much money can you make on OpinionWorld?

Most surveys take 10-15 minutes on OpinionWorld. I think that is an ok time to spend on a survey, and it is a very normal time to spend per survey on most other survey sites as well.

Unfortunately, the OpinionWorld rewards in relation to the time spent are not quite as high as on the top paying survey sites.

But the rewards are still decent in comparison to other survey sites, and it can be a nice way to make some extra cash, and the payout threshold is not very high, so it is easy to reach. And I have been paid out by the platform myself, so I know it is legit and pays out.

In general, it can be a nice extra site to join, but you should not join it as the only survey site, as you will then not get very many earning opportunities.

It is important to remember that paid surveys, in general, are not a way to make a full-time income online. They are a very nice and easy way to make some extra cash and, at the same time, have your opinion heard. You just need to do it with the right expectations.

Can you use it on mobile?

It is great being able to take surveys on your mobile devices, as you can then do it on the go and whenever you have a little extra time.

On OpinionWorld, you will be able to take most of the surveys on mobile. In the email invitations, you get with surveys, you can just click the link on your phone, and then you will be taken to the survey.

Not all surveys will be perfectly optimized for mobile, so in some cases, you might have to zoom in and out a bit. But overall, it works fine to take OpinionWorld surveys on mobile.

The platform itself works fine on mobile as well. It does not have an app, but you can log in to the site from the browser on your mobile and use it here.

Who can join OpinionWorld?

OpinionWorld is available in around 36 different countries and languages. You will, therefore, very possibly be able to get surveys in your own language, which makes it more user-friendly.

opinionworld countries
The countries OpinionWorld is available in.

In most countries, you have to be at least 18 years old to join.

Be aware that you are not allowed to log in or do surveys if you are in another country than where you signed up. They can end up banning you from the site if you do this. And they are quite strict with this, so do not test it if you like using the site.

Can you get support?

I find that how well any service handles customer requests or questions tells a lot. And I honestly do not have a very good experience with the customer service of OpinionWorld.

It is important to say that this might very well differ from country to country, as each country has its own customer service.

My experience in the country I live in (a small European country) has, however, been quite poor. One day when I tried to log in to the site, I just got a message that I could not log in, as I had violated the terms and conditions.

They had not sent me any messages about this, and the message did not say anything about what I had done. My guess was that it was because I tried to log in from another country than where I signed up while on holiday.

I, therefore, wrote to their customer service and explained this and asked if that was the reason my account was canceled and if it was possible to open it again. I just got a short answer back saying that they could not reopen my account, as I had violated the terms and conditions. Still, they did not give me a reason.

So I decided to write again and insist that at least they told me why my account was closed. Again, I just got a short answer back saying that it was because I had violated the terms and conditions.

I realize that I had violated the terms, but it was by mistake, and I was disappointed that OpinionWorld’s customer service was not more helpful (again, this will very likely be different in other countries).

But I also want to mention that I have been in contact with OpinionWorld staff from other countries to ask some questions about the platform in other countries and have here gotten nice and helpful answers. So it seems that in some countries the service is a lot better than in others.

But a warning is: If you decide to join, make sure you read the terms and conditions and do NOT log in while you are traveling. Also, just in case, make sure you cash out as soon as you can, so you do not lose your earnings if something should happen.

To be fair, I also have to say that before this incident, I did not have problems with the site, and I had been paid several times without problems.

Final verdict – legit or scam?

OpinionWorld is legit, but does this mean it is worth joining?

It has both good and bad sides, so let’s finish this review by summing up the pros and cons, so you can get a better overview before deciding to join or not.

pros

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Low payout threshold
  • Pays out through PayPal
cons

Cons:

  • Rewards in relation to time are not quite as high as on some other sites
  • Not very many survey opportunities
  • Customer service is not the best in some countries

There are many things I like about OpinionWorld. I, for example, appreciate the user-friendliness of the site, the low payout threshold, and that it pays out through PayPal.

The rewards in relation to the time spent are, however, not quite as high as on some other sites, and it seems the customer service and support are not very good in some countries.

In general, there are other survey sites that give more opportunities. You can see the best survey sites in your country here.

But OpinionWorld is a legit survey site, and it can be a good survey panel to join as an extra site.

  2. After spending considerable time completing surveys from Opinion World, I made over 1000 points and tried to redeem them. Strangely my account was terminated allegedly I violated terms and conditions of company. It is strange they terminated just when to attempted to redeem my points. I contacted to help desk and after nearly 10 days I was told I violated their terms. This is a SCAM company.
My concern is the other people who may rely on this company.
NEVER EVER TRUST IT! IT IS A SCAMMER!

    • Thanks for sharing this. Sorry to hear that. I have actually been paid by OpinionWorld but it is important to note that it has different platforms for differnt countries. No doubt the support could be better in some countries and it seems your country is one of them.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences.

  3. In order to redeem ones currently accumulated points one has to submit evidence of who you are with documentation ie passport / drivers license etc which are important identity documents plus screen shot photo of oneself I my country Australia we are constantly being informed by our govt never to hand over ones identity documents to unknown people very unsafe practice
I contacted opinion world re same and I did receive a prompt reply reassuring me that because of cyber crime they have implemented this safe guard via Dynata
Consequently to this date I cannot redeem my points
I did reply to this email and my concerns but not had a reply since

    • Unfortuantely, many survey sites have a lot of fraud so they have to take extra measurements to prevent scams, and that means most sites will ask for ID verification in some way. I understand you concern, but you should expect most sites will ask for verification before paying you. But luckily many will not ask you to share personal documents.
