I found Paceline a good app to help you reach your fitness goals. But as an app to earn from, I think there are far better options, as you only get low gift card rewards. It is also only for iPhone users in the US.
A good fitness app, but a poor way to earn
Hit 150 Paceline minutes a week to unlock gift cards. No cash. US only, iOS only, and you need a fitness watch.

The short answer
Paceline is a fitness app that lets you earn rewards when you hit your weekly fitness goals. You need 150 Paceline minutes a week, and a longer streak unlocks better rewards. My review does not show a payout yet.
But you only get gift cards, and the rewards are low. It only works in the US, only on iOS, only with an Apple watch, Garmin or Fitbit, and you have to link your credit or debit card. It is a good app to reach your fitness goals, not a good app to earn from.
- Offers a good way to achieve your fitness goals
- The app is user-friendly
- A longer streak unlocks better rewards
- Help Center and support tickets
- Low rewards
- Doesn’t offer any cash rewards, only gift cards
- US only and iOS only
- You need an Apple watch, Garmin or Fitbit
- You have to link your credit or debit card
My experience with Paceline
I looked into Paceline: how you earn, the rewards, who can join, the sign-up and the support. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Is Paceline legit and safe?
Paceline rewards you with gift cards for hitting your fitness goals. But that does not automatically make it worth using to earn, and my review does not show a payout yet. Here is what you should know.
- You have to link your credit or debit card
After you register, you link a credit or debit card. Paceline does not charge you. It uses the card to verify you are a real person, and to track your spending habits to see what rewards it can offer you. I understand if you are a bit wary of this. Long-time users say there is nothing to worry about, but it depends on whether you are comfortable with it.
- Low rewards, and no cash
Paceline only gives gift cards. A streak of two unlocks a $2 Amazon gift card, and long-time users say the most you can usually redeem is $5. Gift cards of $10 or more exist, but they are very hard to find.
- Your streak resets when you miss a week
If you do not hit the weekly goal, your streak resets and you start from scratch. If you only exercise now and then, you will find it hard to earn.
- US, iOS and a fitness watch only
Paceline is only for people in the US, only on iOS, and only with an Apple watch, Garmin or Fitbit. Android users cannot use it.
My takePaceline is a good fitness app to use if you are looking for an app that will help you achieve your fitness goals. But as an app to earn from, there are far better options out there, in my opinion and experience. While Amazon gift cards are a good form of reward, other apps offer the same thing, but they also offer cash rewards as well.

There are 2 ways to earn. The weekly fitness goals are the main one. Tap one to read more.
Weekly fitness goalsMain earner
You rack up 150 Paceline minutes every week by doing activities that raise your heart rate. Paceline says: “A Paceline Minute is the amount of time you spend doing an activity whose intensity is equal to or greater than a brisk walk.”
First connect your fitness watch to the app. Only Apple watches, Garmin and Fitbit work. Your watch tracks the activity, and Paceline counts the minutes. You can earn up to 50 Paceline minutes a day, so plan your workouts around that. I find the app relatively user-friendly, so you will easily get used to it.
When you hit your weekly goal, you unlock rewards. Keep hitting it every week (a streak), and you unlock more and better rewards. Miss a week, and the streak resets. I find it a relatively straightforward way to earn rewards, but it only suits people who exercise regularly.
Referral program$10 Amazon gift card
Share your referral code. Your referral enters it when they sign up. You get a $10 Amazon gift card when your referral claims a reward within 45 days of registering, so they have to hit their weekly fitness goal in that time. They then also get a $5 Amazon gift card as a bonus.
How much can you make?
If you keep your streak alive, you can claim gift cards that are worth more. But overall, I would say the earning potential of Paceline is not that great.
The value it offers is not the rewards you get, but the fitness goals you achieve. I think the app is only really meant to help you reach your fitness goals, not to earn.
Rewards you can claim
| Reward | Value | When |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon gift card | Depends on your streak. A streak of two gives $2. Long-time users say $5 is usually the most. | When you hit your weekly fitness goal |
| Fitness and health gift cards | Varies. Gift cards of $10 or more exist but are very hard to find. | When you hit your weekly fitness goal |
| Starbucks gift card | Varies | Sometimes on offer |
| Donation to charity | Your reward goes to a charity Paceline supports | Instead of a gift card |
| Referral reward | $10 Amazon gift card for you, $5 for your referral | When your referral claims a reward within 45 days |
Paceline does not pay cash. If you prefer cash, see the top sites that pay via PayPal instead.
