The earning opportunity – Uploading receipts
The only way to earn is by uploading a photo of your receipts. However, you can only upload receipts of food items (hence the name SnapMyEats). So, it’s actually a bit more limited compared to other apps that offer this kind of earning opportunity.
To upload a receipt, you just have to log in to the app first. Then, you just have to press the “+” button to take a photo of your receipt.
The important thing to remember when taking a photo of a receipt is that you have to make sure all the items and details of the receipt will fit in just one photo. So, if your receipt is double-sided or it is very long, then it won’t be considered a valid entry.

How do you get paid?
The reward system of SnapMyEats is slightly more complicated than other apps that offer the same kind of opportunity.
You see, for every receipt you successfully submit, you won’t get paid right away. Instead, it will count as one entry.
In order to earn, you will have to successfully submit five entries which will be worth €1. However, you can only earn a maximum of five times every month. So basically, you will have to submit 25 receipts successfully to maximize your monthly earnings.
That also means you can only earn €5 per month. The problem is that you’ll have to earn at least €10 before you can redeem any reward. So effectively, you will only be able to get paid every two months, which is quite a long wait, in my opinion.
Now, does this mean that when you’ve already successfully submitted 25 receipts in one month, you should just stop submitting receipts?
Well, according to SnapMyEats, you can still keep sending photos of your receipts if you’ve reached the limit.
You see, once you’ve successfully submitted at least 16 receipts, you will automatically be entered into their monthly prize draw. And the more receipts you send in excess, the more entries you get, thereby, increasing your chances of winning their monthly prize draw.
The prize for their monthly prize draw is a €100 Amazon gift card. It’s a nice prize to win, but considering there’s no guarantee you will get it, you can’t really count on it as a stable source of rewards.
As for the rewards you can redeem, unfortunately, you will only be able to redeem gift cards. The app doesn’t offer any cash rewards. You have the option to redeem various gift cards from Amazon, Virgin, Google Play, and several more.
Their reward system is a bit complicated and it’s unfortunate that you really can’t earn cash. If you prefer to earn cash instead of gift cards, I would instead suggest you check out the top survey sites that pay via PayPal.
How much money can you make?
As explained above, there’s a hard cap to the amount you can earn per month. Other apps that offer this kind of earning opportunity (like, for example, Swagbucks) don’t have a limit to how much their members can earn each month. So, you can’t really expect to earn a lot from it.
You will also have to wait for at least two months before you can redeem rewards, which, as I’ve mentioned earlier, is quite a long time to wait. That’s why I would say SnapMyEats has a low earning potential.
That being said, it can still serve as a decent secondary app you can use to get some value out of your food receipts. At least, you can get something out of them before you throw them in the trash bin.
Can you use it on a desktop?
SnapMyEats is a mobile-only platform, so you can’t really use a desktop or laptop to earn from it. And considering how you will be able to earn from it, I honestly don’t see the need for it to be used on a laptop or desktop.
The good thing is, their app is available on both Android and iOS app stores. So, you won’t have a problem with compatibility (unless you are using a Windows phone). Their app is user-friendly, so you won’t have a hard time getting used to how it works.
You do have to allow the app to determine your location and you have to make sure your mobile device has an internet connection when you are uploading receipt photos.
