Apple does not pay you for testing, and most sites that promise a free iPhone or iPad are scams. Below are the 3 realistic ways I have found, who can join each one and what you get.
3 realistic ways to test Apple products
-
#1 AppleSeed
Best for: Testing unreleased software at work
It is Apple’s own program for customers to test unreleased software and give feedback on quality and usability.
- Who can join
- Members of an organization Apple invites
- What you get
- Unreleased software to test · No pay
-
#2 Apple Beta Software Program
Best for: Trying new iOS and macOS versions first
It is made and managed by Apple, and it has no requirements: you sign up and enroll your devices. If you get chosen, you try new versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS and HomePod.
- Who can join
- Anyone can sign up · no guarantee you are picked
- What you get
- Beta software to test · No pay
-
#3 Become an Apple Employee
Best for: Getting real Apple devices to test
Apple only gives free products to test to its employees, so this is the only real way I have found to get them.
- Who can join
- People Apple hires through its Careers page
- What you get
- Job · Sometimes products to test
If you want an Apple product without spending your own money, earning from online rewards sites is the best way.

3 Realistic ways to get free Apple products
Now that you know what to expect from this kind of opportunity and what scams to be aware of, it’s time we discuss the actual options you can choose from.
The first two options can be suitable for most people, while the third one can potentially give you access to actual Apple devices, but they are not just for everyone.
I will keep updating this guide if I find new opportunities in the future, so make sure to bookmark this page and check on it from time to time for new opportunities.
#1 AppleSeed
- Who can join
- Members of an organization Apple invites
- What you get
- Unreleased software to test · No pay
AppleSeed, or AppleSeed for IT as it is now called, is a software customer seeding program by Apple. Its purpose is to let customers test unreleased software.
It is an invite-only program, and it previously invited individuals. But now, it only invites organizations to participate. So, if you want to be a part of this program, you have to be a member of an organization that received an invitation.

If you get to participate, your job is to provide quality and usability feedback for the unreleased software you have tested.
Just keep in mind that you won’t get paid for participating in these tests.
#2 Apple Beta Software Program
- Who can join
- Anyone can sign up · no guarantee you are picked
- What you get
- Beta software to test · No pay
The Apple Beta Software program is another opportunity where you can test out software from Apple. It is also a program made and managed by Apple, so you are guaranteed that the software you are testing is legit.
It doesn’t have any requirements contrary to the other option mentioned above. You just have to sign up for the program. However, there’s no guarantee you will be picked to test out their beta software.

What will happen is when you sign up, you will be able to enroll your devices in these beta tests, and if you get chosen, you will be able to try out their beta software which will usually be new and unreleased versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and HomePod.
Again, this testing opportunity will not pay you, so don’t expect to receive any compensation.
#3 Become an Apple Employee
- Who can join
- People Apple hires through its Careers page
- What you get
- Job · Sometimes products to test
If you really want to get a free Apple device, you will have to get an actual job and work for them.
This is the only real way I’ve come across to get free Apple products to test. You see, Apple only gives out free Apple products to test to their employees, so if you want to get one, you have to become an Apple employee.

All you have to do is go to the Careers page and see if there are job openings. If you see a job you are interested in, just apply for it. The application process will be more or less the same as applying for a job anywhere else. You submit all the requirements and wait for Apple to contact you.
Then, sometimes, you might get an opportunity to test out products for free when you become an Apple employee.
Of course, I’m not suggesting you apply just to get a free Apple device. I recommend you only apply if the opening is really the right fit for you and you are looking for a job. Otherwise, you are just better off earning money from online rewards sites to buy Apple products.
Scams to be aware of
A lot of sites and apps claim you can get free Apple products, and most of them are scams. These are the ones I have come across, so you know how to spot them.
They ask for your personal information
Most scams ask for your email address, phone number or other details in exchange for a new iPad or iPhone. No legit site or app gives you a free iPad or iPhone for little to no effort.
“Hacks” that get you a free product
Some videos claim a hack can recode the website to get you a free Apple product. That is not true. Apple is a huge company, and its online security is top-notch.
Remember these two rules:
- If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
- If it takes very little effort and time, something fishy is going on.
Two ways to test software
AppleSeed and the Apple Beta Software Program let you test unreleased software, not devices. Apple does not pay you for it, because a lot of people love doing it for free.
One way to get devices
The only realistic way to get a free Apple device to test is to work for Apple. It is not for everyone.

How I choose the sites on this list
I only put a site on this list when I have tested it myself. I test hundreds of sites every year, and I keep this list updated.
What I look at
- Legit, not one of the many scams
- Run by Apple itself
- Realistic, not too good to be true
- Free to sign up or apply
Ready to start?
All of these are free to sign up for or apply to. If you want an Apple product without spending your own money, earn from online rewards sites instead. The top survey and GPT sites in your country can earn you enough for an iPhone or iPad if you are patient.
