PacketStream Review – Legit or Scam? (What to Expect)

PacketStream Rating

If you are looking for a passive way to earn extra cash, PacketStream can be an option. It offers a very easy way to earn and it has a convenient payment method.

If you are looking for an easy way to earn extra cash, a site called PacketStream promises to pay you for sharing your bandwidth. It’s as simple as that. So normally, you’d be a bit cautious because this offer sounds too good to be true.

I understand your concern, and it is right that you should be concerned. That means you are actually doing the smart thing. Before you take up any offer, it is important to verify the legitimacy of the offer. At least, that’s what I would do.

So, is PacketStream legit, or is it a scam?

This PacketStream review will show you exactly what to expect, so you will know if it is truly worth your time or not. So, let’s go ahead and take a closer look at what the site has to offer.

What is PacketStream, and what does it offer?

PacketStream is a peer-to-peer proxy network that will compensate you for sharing bandwidth on their network to allow users all over the world to have access to content on the internet.

It is indeed a legit platform that will pay you for the bandwidth you share – if you know Honeygain, it is similar to that.

But what do the people who avail of your bandwidth really get? Essentially, PacketStream allows customers to access web content that might otherwise be blocked or modified when using a traditional VPN or proxy service. Think of it as a universal key to unlock content that’s restricted to certain regions.

Now, to clearly understand how well you can earn, we have to take a closer look at the earning opportunities it offers.

I have made a video that shows exactly how it works and how you can earn from PacketStream. You can also read all the details below the video:

Option 1 – Selling your Bandwidth

When you sign up as a member of PacketStream, you will first be asked what your purpose is for joining (refer to the photo below). If you want to earn, you have to click the “Earn Money” button.

Packetstream Earning
You have to click the Earn Money button during sign-up so you can earn from sharing your bandwidth.

Once you click that button, you will then become a Packeter.

Packeters enable the customers of PacketStream to surf the web securely and privately by selling them their bandwidth. To do that, you have to install the software the site provides.

Software Of Packetstream
To earn from PacketStream, you have to let the software run in the background.

Once you become a Packeter, you will then be asked to download the PacketStream Client from the download section of the dashboard. After that, you'll be prompted to download the PacketStream app which is around 70+ MB depending on the operating system of your computer.

Once the client software is installed, you just have to log in to your account and you'll start earning credits. Yes, it’s that easy. The software will passively assign bandwidth to customers who want to avail of PacketStream’s services.

So, you won’t have to do anything. You just need to make sure you run the software in the background. But you do have to take note that your internet connection speed will suffer when the bandwidth is being used. That’s the one drawback of becoming a Packeter.

Now, if you are not comfortable with that kind of arrangement, the best way to still earn is just to let the program run in the background when you are not using your computer (i.e. when sleeping or when you are out and about).

You do have the option to set the software to not use any bandwidth when you are using your computer. So, at least, they’ve got that covered. You will not be forced to share your bandwidth if you don’t want to at the moment.

Option 2 – Referral Program

The other way to earn is by inviting other people to become Packeters. You simply invite people using your invite link. Once they sign up using your link, they will become your referral.

Packetstream Referral Program
You can invite other people to become a Packet so you can earn additional rewards.

As shown in the photo above, you can get a 20% commission for whatever your referral will earn from the site. PacketStream will shoulder the commission, which will not be deducted from your referral’s earnings.

It’s a decent commission rate, in my opinion. But you have to make sure the people you invite are really interested in sharing their bandwidth because you won’t earn anything if your referrals don’t earn anything as well.

How do you get paid?

PacketStream will pay you for the bandwidth you share with their customers. But technically speaking, you aren’t actually getting paid for the bandwidth you share.

You will instead get paid for the amount of data you are able to provide by sharing your bandwidth.

Packetstream Payments
They will pay you $0.1 per 1 Gigabyte of data you share.

As shown in the photo above, you will get paid $0.10 per 1 Gigabyte of data you share. Once you earn at least $5, you can then request payment via PayPal. Take note that this is the only payment method they offer.

So, if you are really serious about joining, you have to make sure you have a PayPal account before you join the site. There will be a 3% fee applied to cashouts, so don’t expect to receive the full amount when you cashout.

But I do like the fact that they have a low payout threshold. It’s easier to reach, and the end result is that you will be able to request payouts a lot quicker and on a more frequent basis.

Also, I know from experience that it does actually pay. You can see my PacketStream payment proof in the video at the beginning of this review.

If you are interested in more sites with a low payout threshold, I recommend you check out the fastest paying sites.

How much money can you make?

There are two main factors that can contribute to the amount of money you can earn. The first one is the actual bandwidth of your internet connection. The other is the frequency at which you let the software share your bandwidth.

Basically, you will be able to sell more data at a faster rate if you have a faster internet connection. That will mean you can earn faster. Theoretically speaking, you can share 1 GB of data faster if you have a faster internet connection.

The bottom line is that you will have better earning potential if you have a fast internet connection. Now, the other factor is the frequency at which you allow the software to share your bandwidth.

If you frequently use your computer for surfing the web, letting the software run in the background can be detrimental since it will slow down your connection. So, to avoid this inconvenience, you will just have to allow bandwidth sharing when you are not really using your computer/internet.

The best times to do that are when you step out of the house or when you are sleeping. But of course, you will have to let your computer run during these times, which will eat up power, which can reflect on your electric bill. So, it’s not necessarily the most profitable way, depending on how expensive electricity is in your country.

So, to answer the main question, if you frequently use your computer, you won’t be able to earn a decent amount in a short span of time. The way I see it, you can earn more if you have a fast internet connection and don’t use it that frequently.

Also, you are allowed to run PacketStream on several devices. But this only makes sense if your devices have different IPs and are not using the same internet connection.

If you have several devices like this, it can definitely be a way to boost your earnings.

But overall, it can take some patience to earn on PacketStream, but then again, you do not have to do anything to earn, so you will just earn passively.

Can you use it on mobile?

Packetstream Mobile Site

Their software only works for Mac and Windows computers. So, if you were hoping to earn using your mobile device, then, unfortunately, you will be disappointed. I also don’t see the need for you to use your mobile device to earn from PacketStream.

Using your mobile device might also be counter-productive because of the way their earning opportunity is designed.

Sharing your mobile device’s bandwidth can get quite expensive since you will be billed for your data consumption. But if you have an unlimited data plan, then using your mobile device’s connection as a different source of bandwidth can be an option.

You can also use your mobile if you quickly want to check how much you’ve earned without having to log in to your computer. You can simply log in to their site and view the amount you’ve earned.

This can be useful if you want to track the bandwidth you’ve shared when you step out of the house.

Who can join PacketStream?

PacketStream is available globally and you will be able to register as a Packeter regardless of where you live.

You do have to be at least 18 years of age to join. They don’t mention this specifically on their website, but since they use PayPal as their only payment method, then you will have to abide by PayPal’s age requirement if you hope to get paid (you need to be at least 18 years old to register for a PayPal account).

Also, you, of course, have to make sure you live in a country where PayPal is available.

Packetstream Registration
To become a Packeter, you simply have to fill out their sign-up form.

To sign up as a Packeter, you just have to fill out the sign-up form. Once you are done with the form, you will then be asked if you signed up as a Packeter or if you are there to buy bandwidth. Just make sure to click the “Earn Money” button when prompted for it.

Once you are done with that, you will be asked to install the software, which is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. You have to install this software because this is what will allow you to earn.

Once the software is installed, you can just let it run in the background if you want to earn. That’s it. That’s all there is to joining PacketStream.

Can you get support?

If you have any questions about the site, you can check their Support page first. It will list all the FAQs. Their FAQ page tackles most of the basic questions you will encounter.

Now, if you can’t find the answers you are looking for, you can send their support team an inquiry by emailing them at help@packetstream.io. This is the only way to get in touch with their support team since their site really doesn’t have a contact form.

But overall, I would still say they have a decent support system in place for their members.

Final Verdict

PacketStream is a legit peer-to-peer proxy network that will pay you for sharing bandwidth. It offers a couple of interesting features, but it also has some limitations you need to be aware of.

Now, let me finish this review with a summary of its pros and cons to give you a better understanding of what the site has to offer so you can decide if it is worth joining or not.

pros

Pros:

  • Offers a passive way to earn
  • Offers payment via PayPal
  • Available globally
cons

Cons:

  • Limited earning opportunities
  • Fairly Low rewards
  • Can potentially slow down your internet connection

If you are looking for a passive way to earn extra cash, PacketStream can be an option. It offers a very easy way to earn and it has a convenient payment method.

But, in my opinion, it is more beneficial if you are not an “internet person”, so to speak. If you frequently surf the web or you are using your internet connection constantly, using the PacketStream software can become quite annoying because it will slow down your internet connection.

So, the best way to earn is to let it run when you are not using your computer.

That’s why I would only recommend you join if you don’t use your internet connection a lot. Otherwise, you are better off earning from survey and Get-Paid-To (GPT) sites.

For a list of good sites you can join, I would suggest you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead. The sites on this list all have good earning potential and even though they don’t offer a passive form of income, you will be able to earn a decent amount of time without having to invest a lot of time.

      • I’m from Indonesia and I also experienced the same thing using 1 IP 1 Device… I saw traffic using the packetstream software in the last few days increasing sharply. after that my IP was blocked and i couldn’t access their website and accused me of cheating. Scam company. I also looked at Trustpilot’s reviews and some of them experienced the same thing as me.

  3. Packetstream claim of $1 per gb is vague, they calculate bandwith 3 or 4 times more than other providers, thus you are actually charged more than other providers like oxylabs or brightdata or smartproxy.
For example for 10 web links packetstream will calculate 300mb – 500mb of data. while oxylabs will calculate it 100mb or less..so do the maths, they are trick you in to thinking its cheap , a big fraud indeed LOL
