If you’ve been trying to find ways to earn extra money online, you have maybe heard captcha sites are an easy way to do this.
And as you can probably guess, you will be able to earn from these sites simply by solving captchas.
Now, it sounds very simple and easy to do, right?
Well, that’s partly true. But before you go ahead and look for captcha sites you can join, there are a few things you need to know first.
For example, are captcha sites worth joining?
To answer that question, we need to examine what a captcha site has to offer, the earning potential it has, and other benefits it offers. So, this will basically be your ultimate guide to captcha sites.
By reading this guide, you will learn how to earn money solving captcha, and you will find out if it is truly worth your time or not. I will also include a few suggestions to get you started if you decide this is for you.
Are captcha sites legit?
Well, the first thing we need to discuss is the most important aspect. Are captcha-solving sites even legit?
It’s a valid concern. After all, you need to make sure the site you will be joining is not a scam and will actually allow you to earn extra cash.
So, are they legit?
Just like with most online rewards sites, there are definitely legit sites, and there are scam sites. But speaking from personal experience, I have rarely encountered a scam captcha site. Most of the ones I’ve encountered do pay you for your services.
However, there is another aspect you need to consider when it comes to the legitimacy of solving captchas.
You do not know what the captcha solving is used for. Sometimes this can be used for unethical purposes, as people that need to have a lot of captchas solved sometimes need this to get around certain security measurements. This is a deal-breaker, in my opinion, and definitely something you also need to consider.
But before making your final decisions about whether this is the right opportunity for you or not, we, of course, also need to take about how well they pay, and I will discuss it later in this guide.
Not all of them are created equal, though. Some captcha sites are better than others. But most (if not all) of them are free to join. If a captcha site requires a membership fee, it is definitely a big red flag, as already mentioned.
Also, there are Get-Paid-To (GPT) sites that offer captcha solving as a way to earn. Because technically speaking, captcha sites are just a form of GPT site that deals exclusively with solving captchas. So, earning by solving captcha isn’t an exclusive opportunity that you can only find on captcha sites.
There’s one thing you need to keep in mind with captcha sites, though. Although most of them are legit, it doesn’t automatically mean they offer the best and most efficient ways to earn extra cash.
In my experience, captcha sites aren’t that great in terms of earning potential. They are actually quite comparable to PTC sites.
To give you a perspective on a PTC site’s earning potential, I suggest you check out the ultimate PTC guide. Now, as a general rule, the sites that are truly worth joining are those that offer good earning potential.
These are the sites that will make the most out of your time. To understand the earning potential of a captcha site, we have to take a closer look at the earning methods you will usually encounter on captcha sites.
How can you earn on captcha sites?
As explained earlier, captcha sites are really just GPT sites that deal exclusively with solving captcha.
So, you can’t expect to encounter any other opportunities that aren’t related to solving captchas.
That’s why there are usually only one or two types of ways you can earn from captcha sites, and let’s take a look at how each one works.
Option 1 – Solving Captchas
As expected, the main way (and usually the only way) of earning from a captcha site is by solving captchas.
However, you won’t be earning for each captcha you solve. Usually, rewards will only be handed out when you solve a certain number of captchas.
As you can see in the photo above, you will often only get paid when you’ve solved 1000 captchas. But it isn’t that simple, though.
On captcha sites, accuracy and speed are really very important. You can’t just speed through solving captchas without making sure your answers are accurate.
Captcha sites usually have a failsafe method to prevent people from doing this. In my experience, they usually ban people if they commit a lot of mistakes solving captchas. In some cases, solving one captcha is also timed. That means there’s a time limit for you to solve one captcha.
If you exceed the time limit, it will count as a mistake or error. And if you’ve accumulated a lot of mistakes or errors, one of two things will happen. You either get banned from the site, or your earnings will be deducted.
So, captcha sites are actually a little less forgiving with errors than other online rewards sites. That’s why if you plan to join one, you have to be prepared to be focused when solving captchas. You usually can’t afford to dilly-dally and not take it seriously.
However, these captcha sites usually provide a way for you to pause the solving process so you can take a breather. So, it’s not that hectic and stressful.
As for the payment, in my experience, you usually start out at a lower rate, and it will gradually increase once the site recognizes that you provide quality work.
In other words, you commit a few mistakes. This is why most of these captcha sites usually mention on their site that experienced solvers can earn a decent amount.
This is actually true. But to get to a rate where you will be able to earn more than a hundred dollars a month for solving captchas alone will, in my experience, take quite a long time. You will have to be very patient and focused to reach those rates.
So, in a sense, captcha sites are actually just buying captcha answers from you in bulk at a certain rate.
And as time goes by, if you’ve been providing quality answers, the rate at which they will buy captcha answers from you will increase. That’s one way to look at how captcha sites work.
Now, some captcha sites will train you first on how to solve captchas on their system (refer to the photo above). These sites usually have a system in place on how you will be able to answer captchas on their platform.
You need to learn how their system works so you can provide captcha answers properly. Other sites will also require you to install additional software (usually in the form of a browser extension), so you will be able to solve captchas on their platform.
Option 2 – Moderation Tasks
Some captcha sites offer additional opportunities for you to earn. But again, these will always be related to captchas.
You can sometimes earn by evaluating the correctness of captcha entries. So, you sort of become a quality assurance staff.
The good thing about these tasks is that you don’t usually have to check a thousand entries to earn. They usually ask you to evaluate fewer captcha entries. The downside is that the rewards are lower than what you can earn from solving captchas. So, that’s the drawback.
Plus, these tasks aren’t available very often compared to solving captchas. So, you really can’t expect to earn a lot from it.
How much money can you make?
Now, this is the golden question. To really determine if a site is worth joining, earning potential is one of the most important factors to consider. And as I’ve mentioned earlier in this guide, you won’t really be able to earn a lot from captcha sites.
Typically, 1000 captchas are only worth around $1 to $2 at most when you are just starting out. And if you think about it, solving 1000 captchas can be done in the range of 4 hours or more. So, you will actually be earning $2 at most for 4 hours or more of work.
That, in my opinion, is NOT time well spent. If we are only talking about earning potential here, you can earn that same amount by answering one survey, which usually only takes 30 minutes to an hour max.
So, if you are only after being able to earn efficiently, I would suggest you instead check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country.
How will you get paid?
One good thing about captchas sites is they usually use payment methods that are very convenient and easy to use.
You will usually find captcha sites that pay via PayPal. If this option is not available, there are other equally convenient options you can find.
Aside from PayPal, they also use Payoneer, Payza, and Skrill as payment options. They are not as popular as PayPay, but they are equally convenient.
One thing that is not usually available as reward options on captcha sites is gift cards, in my experience.
They prefer rewarding users with cash through various payment gateways.
So, if you are mainly looking to earn cash, captcha sites will be able to meet your needs.
Can you use it on mobile?
If you are mainly looking to earn using your mobile device, captcha sites aren’t the most ideal options.
Because as I’ve mentioned, these sites sometimes require additional software (browser extensions, browser security certificates, 3rd party programs) that you need to install to be able to solve captchas.
And this software isn’t really available on mobile devices.
That’s why it is best you work on captcha sites on a laptop or desktop unless you are lucky finding a captcha site that has a mobile app you can use (which is quite rare).
Also, mobile devices aren’t really the ideal option if you are gunning for accuracy and speed because it is harder to type in characters using the keyboard interface on mobile devices.
Who can join captcha sites + examples of legit sites?
A positive thing about captcha sites is that they are usually available globally. So, you will be able to join regardless of where you live.
Plus, they are free to join, so it won’t cost you anything to sign up. You just have to be at least 18 years of age or older to sign up.
If you are looking for sites that will allow you to earn money by solving captcha, here are four sites I suggest you check out.
- Timebucks – a GPT site that offers multiple earning opportunities aside from solving captcha.
- Kolotibablo – a captcha site that will pay you a certain rate for solving 1000 captchas. It also offers moderation tasks from time to time.
- 2Captcha.com– another captcha site that you can earn from when you solve captchas. It has a mobile app you can download so you can work from a mobile device.
- Microworkers – a micro-task site that offers captcha solving tasks aside from other micro-tasks.
Are captcha sites worth it?
Now, on to the million-dollar question. Are captcha sites worth joining or not?
It’s quite clear that earning potential isn’t the strong suite of captcha sites. But let me give you a summary of its pros and cons so you’ll know what you can expect from a captcha site before you decide.
- Offers a very easy way to earn extra cash
- Offers convenient payment methods
- Low rewards
- You have to solve a lot of captchas to earn
- Limited earning opportunities available
- You risk participating in unethical tasks
If you are looking for an efficient way to earn extra cash online, captcha sites, in my opinion, aren’t the most ideal option. The low rewards for the amount of time and effort needed just don’t make it worthwhile.
Your time would be better spent on the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead. These sites offer better earning potential.
But if you are just looking for a simple way to earn additional cash and have a lot of time, then captcha sites can be an option. Earning from this kind of site is very straightforward.
Just make sure to set your expectations properly so you won’t get disappointed in the end.
