The earning opportunity – AI training jobs
The only way to earn from Outlier AI is to apply for AI training jobs. When you go to the website, you can immediately see all the available opportunities, which is a good thing because you will know right away if there are job offers for you.
When you see a job offer you are interested in, just click it to see the full details. When you are ready to proceed, just click the “Apply” button. Then, if it is your first time applying for a job on Outlier AI, you’ll have to go through the sign-up process.
Once you are done registering, you’ll need to pass a skills assessment so that Outlier AI can determine if you have the skills to do the job. If you pass the assessment, you will be scheduled for an interview. If you get through this phase and Outlier AI decides to hire you for the position, they will let you know via email, so make sure to check your inbox regularly after applying.
If you get hired, you will have to go through the onboarding process. For some job positions, they will ask you to undergo training. Now, based on feedback from other users, some job positions don’t offer payment during training.
After you are done with the training, all you have to do is wait for tasks to be assigned to you. When this happens, you’ll just have to complete the tasks before the deadline given to get paid. Later, I will discuss how its payment system works.
Based on my testing, there are a decent number of job offers available at any given time. However, that doesn’t reflect the true earning potential of Outlier AI (more on this later).

How do you get paid?
The job offers found on Outlier AI will either pay you by the hour or will have a fixed rate per task. The rate will be shown on the details page. Now, the question is, how can you withdraw your earnings?
Well, Outlier AI offers PayPal, AirTM, or bank transfer as payout options. It will process payments every week automatically, so you don’t have to manually request to withdraw your earnings. As long as you’ve earned something within the week, your earnings will be sent to you through your chosen payment gateway.
It’s a relatively convenient and straightforward payout system, in my opinion. I like the fact that it offers convenient payout options like direct bank transfer.

How much money can you make?
The amount you can earn from Outlier AI will mostly depend on your expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors. For example, higher rates may be offered to people with PhDs compared to people who only have a Bachelor’s degree.
This is why it’s hard to estimate the exact amount you can earn from this site. Another factor you must consider is that even if you manage to land a job, the tasks that will be assigned to you will not be guaranteed. In other words, there’s no guarantee you can regularly earn from it.
Many members have complained about its inconsistent task availability, so it’s not something you can reliably earn from, in my opinion, at least not in all locations. This is why I would consider its overall earning potential to be not that good compared to popular freelance sites.
Can you use it on mobile?
The site is mobile-friendly, but the work you need to do will require the use of a computer. As explained earlier, you will mostly be doing AI training and data annotation tasks. You can do that properly on a mobile phone.
So, to answer the question above, NO, you can’t. You’ll need to sit in front of a computer to earn from the jobs offered by the site.
Who can join Outlier AI?
Outlier AI is technically available worldwide. However, you must keep in mind that all of the job opportunities will require you to be a resident of a specific country.
So, you won’t always find job opportunities. As for the application process, the first thing you must do is to look for a job you want to apply for.
Then, once you submit your application, you’ll have to take a skill assessment. If you pass this phase, you’ll be scheduled for an interview.
If you get hired, you’ll need to go through the onboarding process, and most of the time, you’ll also have to go through training. Once you get hired, you’ll be able to log in to the Outlier AI platform to view the tasks you must do. You’ll also have to choose your payout method.
It’s a relatively long process, so it’s not the best option if you are in a hurry to earn extra cash.
Can you get support?
Outlier AI has an FAQ section you can check out if you have questions or concerns. However, it only discusses the basics of what the site is all about. So, if your concern is regarding the tasks you have to do, you’ll need to get in touch with a representative.
You’ll only be able to do so if you log in to the member dashboard and go to the Help section. So, overall, I would say the site does provide the minimum required support to its members since it offers a way for you to contact support.
