Mindrift Review – Worth Joining? (What to Expect)

Earning money by helping train AI models sounds like a great opportunity. That’s exactly what Mindrift claims to offer. It promises paid tasks that improve AI-generated content.

But while that may sound simple, platforms are not always a good fit for everyone. So, before you decide to join, I urge you to read this Mindrift review, so you can understand how it actually works, what kind of tasks you’ll get, and how reliable the earning opportunity really is. That way, you’ll know what to expect from it.

What is Mindrift, and what does it offer?

Mindrift is a platform that connects users to AI training and data-related tasks. It is powered by Toloka, which has focused on data and AI training since 2014, so it’s one of the early adopters of this field.

And in case you are wondering, YES, it is indeed legit because the opportunities it offers really do pay. But that doesn’t automatically mean it’s worth your time.

The earning opportunity – AI-training jobs

As explained above, what Mindrift does is connect users to AI-training jobs. So, to earn, you’ll have to apply for the job, go through the hiring process, and if you get hired, you’ll have to go through the onboarding process (refer to the photo below).

Once you get hired, you’ll get access to all the tasks you can do to earn. These tasks will essentially ask you to create, evaluate, and refine AI models. You’ll be asked to write examples or prompts the AI can learn from.

You’ll also have to assess how well the AI responds and suggest improvements. Aside from that, you’ll have to edit or adjust content using your subject knowledge.

Now, the good news is that you don’t actually have to sign up before you can view all the available jobs being offered. You can just click on the “Apply Now” button, and you will see all the job offers (see photo below).

As you can see, the type of jobs being offered usually requires a certain skill set or expertise for you to qualify. When I was testing the platform, most of the job offers I found were for graphics design, coding, and subject matter expertise. So, it’s not for everyone. From time to time, you might encounter job offers that only require general skills, but they are quite rare.

The good thing about this is that you will definitely earn a significant amount if you get hired. That’s because, based on my experience, job offers that require a specific skill set or expertise usually pay a competitive amount. So, if you get hired, expect to earn a decent amount.

Now, if you are wondering if you need to know about AI to apply for the jobs, it’s not mandatory, but it’s good to know a bit about Large Language Models (LLM), which are a type of AI designed to understand, process, and generate human-like text. That way, you can understand the reasoning behind the tasks you have to do.

The most important thing you need to know is that, unless specifically stated, you can’t use any automated tools while working on tasks. That’s the biggest rule you need to follow.

Once you get hired, you’ll be given access to the member dashboard, where you can access all the tasks you need to do to earn rewards. In the next section, I will discuss how you will get paid.

One thing to note about the job offers is that you’ll find both remote and in-person opportunities, but they are all part-time. So, if you are looking for a full-time job, this is not the right option for you.

How do you get paid?

As explained above, you’ll earn money when working on the tasks. The rate for the task will be assigned to you based on your experience and expertise, and you will see that immediately.

Now, the question is, how will you get paid?

Every time you complete a task, the compensation will be credited to your Mindrift account. Then, the site will process the payments automatically every 5^th and 20^th day of the month.

You won’t need to reach a threshold to receive your earnings. As long as you’ve earned an amount within the pay period, Mindrift will process the payment automatically. Now, you have the option to receive your earnings via Payoneer, Mellow, or Papara.

I have used Payoneer over the years, so I know it’s a convenient method, but I personally haven’t tried the other options, so I can’t comment on how good or convenient they are.

But overall, I would say its payout system is relatively convenient because they process payments automatically. I also like that they offer payments via Payoneer. How much money can you make?

The amount you can earn from Mindrift will depend on how many jobs you get accepted to. As explained, most job offers require a certain skill set, so it can be quite challenging to find the right one for you.

You also have to consider that you won’t be the only one gunning for the job, so expect to face a lot of competition. The one thing I can say, though, is that most job offers pay a competitive amount (usually $15 to $90 per hour). So, if you get hired, expect to receive decent pay.

But while jobs typically pay well, I would still say their earning potential largely depends on your qualifications and experience. If you have the skills and experience needed for any of the jobs it offers, the earning potential can be good.

This is why I would say it is not for everyone.

Can you use it on mobile?

Another good thing about Mindrift is that it has a mobile app you can download, so you can check for available tasks even when you are not at your computer. But for the actual earning process, you’ll need to use your computer.

The app is only meant for checking available tasks, tracking project progress, and withdrawing your earnings. For the rest, you’ll need your computer. Take note that you can only log in to the app once you get hired for a job you applied for.

Who can join Mindrift?

Technically speaking, Mindrift is available globally. However, most job offers are seeking candidates in specific locations. So, in reality, you can only apply if you see a job offer for the country you live in.

If you can’t find any offers in your country, then you can check back from time to time to see if there are openings in your location.

As for how you can become a member of the platform, you’ll need to apply for a job you are qualified for. For this process, you’ll need to provide your mobile phone number and your resume.

After submitting your application, Mindrift will get in touch with you if they are interested in hiring you. You’ll be sent a link to assess your skills and expertise. If you pass this assessment, you’ll need to go through the identity verification process.

Once you are done with this step, you can join the project or the talent pool to start earning. It’s quite a long process, so if you are looking for something you can immediately earn from, this is not the ideal option for you.

Can you get support?

Mindrift’s FAQ section for its earning opportunity is not accessible if you aren’t a member of the platform yet. But if you get hired, you’ll have access to all the support you need, including a convenient way to get in touch with their support team.

So, overall, I would say it does provide good support to its members. But if you haven’t been hired yet, and you have questions, you won’t get any assistance from them apart from the information shared on their website (How it Works section).
