Getting paid to watch videos sounds like a pretty easy way to make some extra money.
You open an app, watch some short videos, collect coins, and eventually turn those coins into cash. There are quite a few apps using this basic idea. VidGain is one of them.
The app claims you can earn rewards simply by scrolling through trending videos. But there is a big difference between an app that lets you collect rewards and one that actually pays you.
So, is VidGain worth it? This VidGain app review will reveal the pros and cons, so you can decide whether to install it.
What is VidGain, and what does it offer?
VidGain is an app that supposedly rewards you for watching videos. On the surface, it looks like a great way to earn extra cash. However, I noticed something strange while testing it. If you look at the link to its Google Play page, you’ll see that it was previously called TikBucks.
I’m not exactly sure whether that was its previous name, and I’ve never encountered an app called TikBucks before, but apparently the developer was too lazy to update the link to its Google Play listing to the app's current name. So, take that with a grain of salt.
Now, the big question is, is it worth it? Well, the only way to find out is to take a closer look at how you can earn from it, so you can understand how good or bad it really is.
I have made a video explaining exactly what VidGain offers and how it works. You can also read the details below the video.

The earning opportunity – Watching videos
The primary way to supposedly earn from VidGain is to watch videos. Once you’ve installed the app, you can log in to the dashboard to start earning. However, as explained in the video above, the app won’t allow you to take a screenshot or record your screen while using it, which I found quite weird.
I’m not exactly sure what the reason is for this, but the app said it was for security purposes, which I highly doubt. The only good reason I can think of is that they don’t want people to find out how good or bad the app is before they install it. Whether that is a good or bad thing, it will all be up to you.
Now, when you log in to the app, you’ll see something similar to the photo below (yes, I managed to find a way to take a screenshot of the inside of the app).

To start the earning process, you’ll just have to choose any of the earning opportunities it offers. It won’t matter which one you click because you will eventually just do one thing, which is to watch a pop-up video ad, and you will encounter a lot of those while using the app.
You will practically have to view an ad every time you click on something inside the app, which I found very annoying. This, in my opinion, is the whole purpose of the app. Its business model is to get people to watch ads so they can get a commission.
This is not a unique business model. In fact, many apps and Get-Paid-To sites employ this strategy. It’s how they can afford to reward their members. It is a sustainable model, but with VidGain, you will immediately wonder how they can sustain it when they are so generous with the rewards they offer.
When I was testing the app, I earned around $15 within just a few minutes. And I can tell you right now, apps like this don’t pay that well, based on my experience, because the commission for getting people to watch ads isn’t that high.
In the next section, I will discuss how they intend to pay their members, and you will also understand my commentary on why they don’t have a sustainable business model.

How do you get paid?
You can supposedly cash out your earnings via PayPal or convert them to a prepaid Visa or Mastercard. However, what’s strange about it is that it has an unusually high payout threshold.

In the photo shown above, you’ll see that the payout threshold is 400 DKK (my local currency), which is equivalent to roughly $60. That’s a very high payout threshold for an app that offers this kind of earning opportunity.
And, based on my experience, apps that have an unusually high payout threshold tend to mean only one thing: it doesn’t intend to pay you. They do this by doing several things, like adding hidden requirements to cash out, or limiting your earnings when you are about to reach the threshold.
To be honest, I didn’t stick around to find out if it truly does pay, because VidGain isn’t something I would personally invest my time in, and later, you will understand why.
So, if you are looking for apps or sites that are guaranteed to pay you, I recommend you check out the top sites that pay via PayPal instead. I have tested all of them, and they all really pay you.
Red flags you need to know
As you can probably tell, VidGain is not an app I would recommend, and that’s because of the red flags I have encountered. I will discuss each one so you can easily spot them on other sites or apps you encounter in the future.
Red flag #1 – Unchanged link in the Google Play listing
As explained earlier, the link to their Google Play listing still says TikBucks, but the app’s name is different. This isn’t actually a big thing. I’m just nitpicking. But this can also give you an idea of the developer’s professionalism, in my opinion.
If they are too lazy or too oblivious to fix the link to their Google Play listing, that says something about their professionalism. If they can’t or won’t fix a very simple issue like that, you aren’t exactly confident that they can fix complicated or serious issues like missing payouts. At least, that’s how I would look at it.
Red flag #2 – Dubious security practices
Another issue I’ve encountered while testing the app was that it didn’t allow me to record my screen or take screenshots while I was using it. The app says it is for security purposes, but I can’t think of any good reason for doing this, apart from preventing people from sharing proof of how good or bad their app is.
This is the first time I’ve encountered an app like this, and it almost feels like they have something to hide by implementing this feature. Again, it’s not illegal, but it also doesn’t exactly instill confidence in the user, in my opinion.
Red flag #3 – Unrealistic earnings
The biggest thing that triggered my alarm bells was the unrealistic earnings I received while testing it. As I’ve explained earlier, I was able to earn $15 within a few minutes. While many would think that is a good thing, in my years of experience testing thousands of sites and apps, this is usually a bad thing.
And the biggest reason is that you will usually have trouble cashing out your earnings when an app or site offers “too good to be true” earnings. This is where a sustainable business model comes in. If you recall, earlier, I mentioned that their business model doesn’t look sustainable because of the very high rewards they offer.
If they paid their members what they actually earned within a few minutes of using the app, they would go bankrupt in a matter of days. In my opinion and experience, the “high” earnings are just a tactic to entice people to keep using the app, so they can keep earning from all the ads being watched.
Then, when it’s time to cash out, they don’t intend to pay you a single cent, which I will discuss next. At least, that’s usually how these types of apps that offer unrealistic earnings work.
Red flag #4 – Very high payout threshold
A $60 payout threshold for an app that rewards you for watching videos is unusually high in my experience. You see, when you encounter apps or sites that have a very high payout threshold, there are usually issues when it comes to cashing out.
This red flag usually comes hand in hand with unrealistic earnings. You’ll immediately earn a significant amount after just a few minutes, so you would think that reaching the high threshold will be easy. But the longer you keep using the app or site, the lower your earnings will become, and when you are near the threshold, you will either stop earning entirely or the app or site will add a new roadblock that you must clear to withdraw your earnings.
That’s usually how it goes, based on my experience. So, I won’t be surprised if you manage to reach the threshold, and VidGain will suddenly add a requirement for you to complete before you can cash out. Usually, they will ask you to invite a certain number of people to use the app so you can withdraw your earnings.
The worst one is that they will ask you to pay a small amount so you can withdraw your earnings. Whenever you see something like that, you should never believe them. Legit apps and sites will never ask you to pay any amount to withdraw your earnings.
So, in my opinion, the high payout threshold they implement is just a way to discourage you from ever trying to cash out.
Final Verdict
VidGain is an app that supposedly rewards you for watching videos. However, as explained in this review, it has a few red flags you need to know.
To finish this review, here's a summary of its pros and cons so you understand why it’s not an app I would recommend installing.

Pros:
- None

Cons:
- The app is very spammy
- Offers unrealistic rewards
- Very high payout threshold
So, in case it’s not quite clear yet, I do not recommend you install VidGain. You will only waste your time because you will not earn anything from this app. It has several red flags you need to be aware of, and if an app has more than one red flag, I usually recommend that people stay away from it.
