AI training jobs have become very popular recently. Many platforms now pay people to help collect data for training artificial intelligence models.

One platform that has been getting attention is Contracted AI. It offers a somewhat unusual way to earn because instead of answering surveys or completing microtasks, you get paid to record first-person (POV) videos of everyday activities.

This can sound like an easy way to earn extra money. After all, who wouldn't want to get paid while doing household chores? But the question is, is Contracted.ai legit or just another scam?

Before signing up, it is important to know the answer to this question and understand exactly how the platform works. In this Contracted.ai review, I'll take a closer look at what it offers, so you can decide whether it is worth your time.

Contracted AI is an AI data collection platform that recruits contributors to record first-person videos that are used for AI training purposes. And yes, it is indeed legit because you can really earn from the opportunities it offers.

However, just because it is legit doesn’t mean it's a platform worth your time. To find out if you should sign up for it, the first step is to examine the earning opportunity it offers, so you will have a good idea of how much time and effort it requires.

The earning opportunity – AI training projects

The only way to earn from Contracted AI is by participating in AI training projects.

As mentioned above, when you join a project, you’ll be asked to record real-world POV (point of view) footage of daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, gardening, and other tasks. The collected footage is then used to help train AI systems.

Now, what makes this a unique opportunity is that Contracted AI will send you custom capture hardware, which is actually a head mount, that you will have to use to record the videos. This device lets you mount the camera on your head, so you can provide the required first-person POV for the videos you record.

The video recordings can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. You will not be asked to talk or act during the recording, so it will be fairly simple. You also don’t have to edit the video you submit.

Contracted AI will only need the raw footage from you, which makes it more convenient, in my opinion. After you submit the footage, you just have to wait for the site to review it, and if everything checks out, you’ll receive the compensation.

How do you get paid?

The payout system of Contracted AI is not quite clear. While I was testing, I could not find any clear information on how its payout system works.

All it says in its payout section is that you can withdraw your earnings to your Whop account. There’s no clear information on what the payout threshold is or how long it will take before your earnings are credited to your Whop account.

That’s why I would say its payout system is a bit confusing. I personally can’t tell you how it works because during my testing, I never reached a point where I had to withdraw my earnings (I will explain why later).

Now, if you are looking for websites with a clearer and more convenient payout system, I suggest you check out the top sites that pay via PayPal instead.

How much money can you make?

The amount you can earn from Contracted AI will depend on your profile and location. As explained in the video above, when you become a member, the platform will show you the rate it pays per hour of footage you provide.

When I tested the site, the rate I was offered ranged from $2.60 to $3.50 per hour of footage (see the photo above). That is actually quite a low rate, in my opinion, given that you’ll have to submit at least 1 hour of footage.

Personally, I didn’t find the offer appealing because of the low rewards. This is why I never got to test the payout section.

Now, aside from the earning potential it offers, you will also have to consider your privacy. You see, when you record footage, you will also be sharing information such as your location, your house layout, your daily routine, your environment, and more.

So, there are privacy implications involved if you decide to participate in the earning opportunities it offers. But overall, I would say its earning potential isn't that great, considering you’ll have to invest a significant amount of time each day to earn.

Can you use it on mobile?

As you can probably tell, the earning opportunity it offers will require you to be mobile, since you’ll be recording videos of various tasks. So, it only makes sense that you’ll need to use an app to do so.

Contracted AI will require you to install the app to earn. Fortunately, the app works on both Android and iOS devices, so compatibility won’t be an issue.

You’ll need to use the app if you want to easily upload the footage you’ve recorded. It would be quite inconvenient to have to transfer the footage you record from your phone to your computer just to upload it.

So, it makes sense that you can easily do that through their app.

Who can join Contracted AI?

Here’s the most important thing you need to know about Contracted AI. It is available globally. So, you can sign up as a member regardless of where you live. However, the application process isn’t as fast as you might think.

To apply as a member, you’ll have to provide your email address. Then, the site will send you an email with the verification code. Once you input the code, you’ll be logged in to the membership platform.

Now, to proceed with the application process, you must complete the interview task shown in the dashboard. The task will ask you to install the app. After installing the app, you’ll have to answer a set of questions conducted by an AI.

After you’ve provided your answers, the site will review them. You’ll just have to wait for their feedback regarding the interview. When I went through this process, I waited more than two weeks to hear back from them, and I still haven’t, even as I'm writing this review.

So, if you are looking for a quick way to earn, this isn’t the most ideal option, in my opinion.

Can you get support?

The website doesn’t have an FAQ or Help section you can check out if you have questions or concerns. However, you can chat with a representative if you’ve got concerns.

To do so, you must log in to the member dashboard and click the Support link. Then, fill out the form to submit your inquiry.

Overall, I would say it provides the minimum required support to its members, as you can easily contact the support team. However, it would still have been better if the website also had a Help or FAQ section you could check out, so you wouldn’t have to always contact support if you’ve got questions.

Final Verdict

Contracted AI is a legit AI training platform that lets you earn by recording videos. It has some decent features, but it also has a fair number of drawbacks you need to consider.

To finish this review, I have summarized its pros and cons, so you can clearly see an overview of what it offers. Then, you can decide whether it is worth your time.

In my opinion, Contracted.ai is not a bad site. However, it also doesn’t provide a good reason for you to sign up. The earning potential is relatively low, considering you’ll have to spend a significant amount of time earning.

There are also other factors you have to consider, like your privacy. If that is something you value more, then this is not an ideal option, because you’ll have to divulge specific information (like your location, the layout of your house, your daily routine, your environment, and more) just to earn.
