Clear! is a mobile app that claims to let you earn rewards by doing simple things, like submitting shopping receipts, answering surveys, and more. On paper, that sounds appealing because it offers passive earnings and low effort.
But as with many “earn from home” apps, the real question is, is it legit or a scam? And if it is legit, is it then worth it?
In this Clear! app review, I will reveal the pros and cons of the app, so you know what you’re getting into before joining.
Then, you can decide if it is worth your time or not. So, let’s dig in.
What is Clear, and what does it offer?
Clear! is a “reward-for-data” app that lets you earn by scanning shopping receipts, answering surveys, and more. And yes, it is indeed legit, since you can really earn from it.
However, it doesn’t necessarily mean you should download it immediately. To find out if it is worth it, the first step is to understand how it works. The only way to do so is to examine the earning opportunities it offers, so you will have a clear picture of how much time and effort are needed to earn from it.
So, here’s how to earn from Clear.
Option 1 – Scanning Receipts
The main way to earn from Clear! is by scanning receipts. In case you are not familiar with this, all you have to do is take photos of your receipts that were issued within 7 days and upload them using the app. Anything older than that won’t be accepted by the app.

You can also submit digital receipts by forwarding them to receipts@clear-app.com. Again, the date it was issued has to be within 7 days for it to be a valid submission.
You also have to make sure that you are using the same email you used when you signed up for Clear.
Now, if you are scanning a physical receipt, make sure to include the date, name of store, and total amount paid in the photo. If it is a long receipt, the app will guide you on how to take a photo of it properly.
Just make sure to take a clear photo where all the important details are readable. The important thing you must remember when scanning receipts is that it has to be for physical products. So, receipts for services provided won’t be valid.
Another thing you must remember is that you can only submit 22 receipts per week.
As for the amount you can earn per receipt, it varies, but most users report that it will be between £0.05 and £0.10. It’s not a lot, but at least you get to earn from something you usually just throw away.
Option 2 – Paid Surveys
From time to time, you will also be invited to answer a short survey. When you log in to the app, you can see if there are available surveys in the Survey section.

There aren’t many surveys available, so if you see one, don’t ignore it if you want to maximize your earnings. What’s great about these surveys is that you will not get disqualified if you answer them, unlike the surveys you encounter on most survey sites.
After you complete the survey, you will earn the reward, which will usually be around £0.50 to £0.60 per survey. Again, it’s not much, but the rate is actually quite decent considering you’ll only have to spend a couple of minutes answering them.
Option 3 – Usage Monitoring
Lastly, you can earn rewards passively just by enabling its Usage Monitoring feature. This feature is how the app collects the market research data that ultimately funds the rewards you will earn from it.
What it does is that it tracks which apps and websites you use, how often, and sometimes for how long. It also detects which ads you’ve been exposed to (online, in-app, or even audio ads picked up by the device’s microphone when the Ad Detector is enabled).
Then, it compiles this into anonymized, aggregated data that it sells to clients (advertisers, brands, retailers, or market research firms). It might sound a bit invasive, but as mentioned, it anonymizes the data you contribute, so it won’t track back to you.
Aside from that, the app also promises never to send you any targeted data, which is a good thing, in my opinion.
As for the rewards you will earn, there’s no exact breakdown of how much you will be rewarded for enabling this feature. It will all depend on how much data Clear! can sell to its clients. But do not expect to earn much from it.

How do you get paid?
The earning opportunities Clear! offers will reward you with a certain amount. When you’ve earned at least £5, you will have the option to redeem various gift cards.
Most of the vouchers or gift cards are for a variety of UK high-street and online retailers (Amazon, Boots, etc.).
The only downside is that it doesn’t offer cash rewards, so if you were expecting to earn cash, you’ll be disappointed.
The payout system is quite straightforward, but if you are looking to earn cash, I recommend you check out the top sites that pay via PayPal instead.
How much money can you make?
As explained earlier, there’s a limit to how many receipts you can submit weekly. This severely limits the app’s earning potential, in my opinion. Aside from that, the amount you can earn per receipt, on average, is only around $0.50.
You also can’t regularly earn from surveys since they are quite rare (I, for one, never encountered one while testing it). So, I would say its earning potential is not that good.
In my experience, this is usually the case with an app like Clear!, where you don’t have to invest a lot of time and effort to earn. The upside is that you can essentially convert your trash into rewards, since you’ll just throw away your receipts after you get home from shopping.
Can you use it on a desktop?
Clear is a mobile-only platform, so you’ll need to use your mobile phone to earn from it. This is to be expected since receipt-scanning apps are usually mobile-exclusive platforms. It also makes sense because you’ll need a camera to scan the physical receipts.

As for the app, initially, it was only for Android devices. Some users say that it is already compatible with iOS devices. However, it is not publicly listed on the Apple App Store. You’ll only get the link to download it when you answer the survey on the site (more on this later).
The app is quite easy to use, but I did notice that it can be slow to load from time to time. So, you’ll need to be a bit patient. If it weren’t for this, then the overall experience you get as a user would be quite pleasant. But as it is now, you’ll have to exercise some patience.
Who can join Clear?
Clear! is only available in the UK, so if you live somewhere else, this is not for you. To sign up as a member, you’ll have to answer the registration survey.

It will only take a couple of minutes to complete the survey. Once you are done, the site will email you the confirmation code, as well as the link to download the app (if you are an iOS user). If you are an Android user, the next step is to download and install the app, since it is available on Google Play.
Once you receive the confirmation code, you must input it when you log in to the app. When you’ve done this step, you can start using the app to earn rewards.
Can you get support?
If you have questions about the app, you can check out its FAQ section found on the website. It discusses all of the important topics you need to know about Clear!.
The website also has a Tutorial section where you can watch videos to learn how to use the app. I found it quite useful when I was testing the app.
If you can’t find the answers you need, you can contact its support team by submitting your inquiry via email to support@clear-app.com. Overall, I would say it provides decent support to its members since it offers a convenient way for you to contact support. It also does a good job at explaining how the app works.
Final Verdict
Clear! is a legit rewards app that rewards you for scanning receipts and enabling usage monitoring. It has some advantages, but it also has some limitations you must consider.
I have summarized its pros and cons to conclude this review, so you can see a clear overview of what it offers. Then, you can decide if it is worth it or not.

Pros:
- Offers a more or less passive way to earn

Cons:
- Doesn’t offer cash rewards
- Low rewards
Clear!, in my opinion, is not for everyone. Its actual earning potential is not very high, and the process requires you to share quite a bit of data. It can be worth joining if you are comfortable with the data-sharing aspect and only expect small side earnings.
Overall, I would say Clear! is best treated as a secondary app. Use it when you have extra receipts or if you don’t mind leaving the Usage Monitor running in the background. That way, you can get some rewards without much effort, which is its biggest upside, in my opinion.
But if you are looking for a great way to earn extra cash, I suggest you check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country instead. The sites and apps on this list all have good earning potential, and they all offer cash rewards.
Plus, you will definitely find a site or app you can join regardless of where you live.
