That is exactly what GBTN, also known as the Global Beta Testing Network (GBTN), claims to offer.

Instead of completing surveys or installing random apps, you can get invited to test video games before they are officially released. You then play the game, follow the instructions, and provide feedback about your experience.

The earning opportunity – Play sessions

As mentioned above, you can earn rewards by testing unreleased games. Once you become a tester, you’ll be invited to participate in play sessions from time to time. These play sessions will ask you to test unreleased games.

The invite will be sent via email, so you’ll have to check your email inbox regularly. Each session will ask you to perform tasks, so you must read the instructions carefully before you start your session. If you fail to follow the instructions properly, you won’t get paid. So, always keep that in mind.

You’ll be asked to test games for all platforms, including mobile devices. Of course, you won’t be invited to test games on gaming platforms that you don’t own. They’ll know what type of play sessions to invite you to because you will have to add your accounts for the gaming platforms you have.

Every time you finish a session, you’ll have to submit your feedback. Then GBTN will review your submission, and if everything is in order, you’ll receive the promised compensation. In the next section, I will discuss how you will get paid.

It’s a relatively straightforward process, but you have to be comfortable speaking your thoughts, and you must speak English fluently if you want to become a tester.

How do you get paid?

There’s not much information on their website about payment details (or the game testing opportunity, for that matter), but from what I can see, it pays via PayPal.

You’ll have to provide your PayPal address when you apply as a tester. Now, it’s also not clear if you need to reach a payout threshold to withdraw your earnings. I’ll be honest, I never got a chance to find out because I was never invited to test a game when I was trying out the site.

So, I can’t tell you if it pays immediately after completing a session, or if you have to wait to reach a threshold to withdraw your earnings. But overall, I would say its payout system is relatively convenient, because it uses one of the most convenient payout methods today (PayPal).

When I tested GBTN, my rate was $13 per hour, which is actually quite a decent rate. However, it can vary depending on your location. So, don’t expect the same amount.

As for the availability of opportunities, based on my experience testing the site, there aren’t that many opportunities to earn. So, even though it pays a decent amount, you can’t expect to quickly earn a lot from it because of the limited earning opportunities available.

This is why I would say its earning potential isn’t that great. That being said, the best value it offers, in my opinion, is that you get to play an unreleased game, and you have the opportunity to influence how the game will be improved. Not a lot of platforms offer that.

Can you use it on mobile?

GBTN doesn’t have a mobile app. However, you may be invited to test mobile games from time to time, so if you indicated in your profile that you are willing to test mobile games, expect to do so at some point.

The member dashboard is optimized for mobile use, so you can log in and navigate it easily on your phone. However, the actual earning process will require you to use a computer or gaming console, unless you are asked to test a mobile game.

Who can join GBTN?

GBTN is available globally, so you can apply as a tester regardless of where you live. The first thing you have to do is submit your application. Then it can take up to two weeks to hear back after you submit your application.

When I was testing it, I also heard back from them around two weeks after submitting my application. Once you get accepted, you’ll be asked to sign an NDA. This is also the reason why I can’t share more photos in my review because some of them contain confidential information.

After signing the NDA, you can log in to the member dashboard. Now, I suggest you set up your gaming accounts immediately, so GBTN can determine the type of invites to send your way. After doing so, all that’s left is to wait for invites.

Can you get support?

As mentioned earlier, the site doesn’t have much information about the earning opportunity it offers. It also doesn’t have an FAQ page you can check out. So, if you have questions or concerns, you’ll have to contact its support team.

To do so, you must fill out the contact form provided by the site. It’s an easy way to contact support, which is why I would say it does provide the minimum required support to its members, since it offers a convenient way to ask for help.

That being said, I do wish the site would at least provide a Help or FAQ section to minimize the instances of having to contact support.
