The earning opportunity – Research studies

When you become a member of the watchLAB panel, you’ll be invited to participate in research studies from time to time.

watchLAB doesn’t have a member dashboard you can log in like most other survey sites, so you’ll receive the invite via email.

That is why if you decide to join this site, you must check your email regularly for opportunities. As for the type of studies you can participate in, they are mostly paid surveys, in-person or online focus groups, phone interviews, user testing, or taste tests.

The most common and simplest study you can participate in is paid surveys, but focus groups offer the highest rewards. When you receive an invitation, it will contain full instructions on what you need to do to complete the study.

Make sure to read the instructions carefully because if you miss just one step, there’s a very likely chance that you will not be able to complete the study and earn the reward. After completing a study, you will receive the reward immediately if it is an in-person opportunity. For online opportunities, it can take several weeks to receive your earnings. So, you have to be very patient.

Now, what you need to keep in mind if you decide to join this site is that the opportunities to earn aren’t very frequent. You can consider yourself lucky if you get to participate in a study once or twice a month.

How do you get paid?

As mentioned earlier, you’ll receive the invite to participate in a study via email. This email will also contain the type of reward you will receive for completing the study. Most of the time, you’ll earn a specific amount, and it will be sent directly to your bank account.

If you participated in an in-person focus group, you’ll receive compensation immediately, which will usually be in the form of a check. Other types of studies will reward you with gift cards. It’s kind of hard to generalize the type of reward you will receive because it will all depend on watchLAB’s clients and how they want to reward their participants.

You also don’t need to reach a threshold to receive your earnings. You will immediately get paid after every in-person study you complete. But for online studies, you have to be a bit more patient because it can take weeks to get paid.

But overall, I would say the payment system of watchLAB is relatively simple. I like the fact it offers a convenient payment system like direct bank transfer.

As I’ve mentioned earlier, the opportunities to earn from watchLAB are quite limited. However, the site does pay quite well compared to other similar sites. So, if you manage to complete a study, you will earn a decent amount.

And as I’ve also mentioned earlier, if you get invited to participate in in-person focus groups, you can earn a significant amount (up to $400). As for its paid surveys, I personally can’t tell you since I never received any invite when I was testing the site. That being said, you should still expect to earn a decent amount from every survey because the site pays quite well.

But even though watchLAB pays quite well, I would still say its earning potential is not that great because of the limited opportunities to earn. So, if you are looking for a site you can regularly earn from, this is not the best option, in my opinion.

Can you use it on mobile?

watchLAB doesn’t have a member dashboard you can log in, so there’s really no point in them making a mobile app. But, to answer the question above, I would say NO. This is due to the nature of the research studies it offers.

Most of the earning opportunities will either require you to use a computer, a telephone, or go to a specific location. The only time you can potentially use your mobile device is if you participate in paid surveys.

And even then, it would still be more convenient to answer the surveys using your laptop or desktop, in my opinion.

Who can join watchLAB?

The site doesn’t tell you exactly which countries it is available in, but from what I can tell, it is only available in the US. So, if you live somewhere else, then this site is not for you.

Plus, most earning opportunities like focus groups or interviews are only available in certain cities (usually in cities where watchLAB has an office – you can see the list of cities when you sign up). To sign up, you must fill out the registration form.

You will have to provide your mobile number if you want to become a member of its panel, so if you are not comfortable with sharing your mobile number, then this is not for you. You must share your mobile number because watchLAB will also SMS you if there are opportunities available for you.

After you click the “Submit” button, all you need to do is wait for the site to invite you to participate in studies. And as I’ve said earlier, it might take some time before you get invited to participate in studies, so you have to be very patient with this site.

Can you get support?

The site doesn’t have a FAQ or Help page you can check out if you have any questions about the site or your account. So, you’ll have to contact its support team if you have any inquiries.

The only problem is that you will not be able to find the contact information for its support team on its website. Instead, you’ll be given the contact information when you receive a research study invitation.

Overall, while the site does provide a way for you to contact support, it would still have been better if it also provided a FAQ or Help page for its participants on their website. That way, there will be fewer instances of having to contact support, in my opinion.

And you need to keep in mind that you will not earn from it very often. But if you do, you can earn a good amount because it pays well.
